1652707 Good Morning, everyone!

My name is Tamela Quijas and I LOVE a good romantic novel. My favorite authors are Jude Deveraux, Johanna Lindsey (only her historicals, I'm not particularly fond of too many of her more contemporary or futuristic novels) Lisa Kleypas (I own every book she's written--and in Hardback!). I have a stack of carefully perserved Harlequins (from the 70's that include Anne Mather and the likes)Basically, I read everything that happens to appeal to me on the romantic edge and I'm always looking for a new author!

2662498 I love time travel and I'm looking for in the genre.

Oh, I enjoy time-travel also, Ronica. Going to add this one to my stack. Thank you!

669573 Ronica--and anyone else--if you enjoy a good romantic western I highly recommend:

"Ride the Fire" and "Surrender" by Pamela Clare.

They are colonial frontier historicals and thought both were awesome.

669573 Hi Ronica! Welcome to this group. I haven't read "The Angel and the Outlaw" by Madeline Baker. Sounds like a western?

2662498 Thank you Photojim,
I think I have issues because I have not found my place in history. I don't know if I want to be in Regency England or the Old West. My first real grown up romance novel was The Angel and the Outlaw by Madeline Baker. I have reread it some many times it my copy is falling apart.

message 76: by Photojim (new)

2640658 Ronica, I haven't tried many of the paranormal romances, but so far, I can't agree with you enough about the historical ones. :-)

Welcome.

2662498 Hello, my name is Ronica and I have been reading romance novels since I was 12 years old. I like all genres of romance with the exception of paranormal and historical (I often get the crazy stares and whispers for saying that) However though I'm open minded and open to suggestions.

669573 Jim! Welcome to the group. I'm not a big fan of Harlequin series books, but do enjoy a good laugh-out-loud romance. Sandra Hill's Cajun series (2-4) springs to mind. The setting is modern/Louisiana. I haven't read the first in the series or books 5+.

Here's the link to Sandra Hill in this group.

p.s. They also made my "hot" shelf. ;-)

1570669 My sister is/was/is a big Harlequin Blaze fan. She likes the steamier romances a lot. You might like these authors:
Allison Kent
Lori Foster
Shannon KcKenna

These are all authors my sister loves.

message 72: by Arch (new)

1610104 Jim, I like a good LOL book too.

message 71: by Photojim (new)

2640658 Thanks for making me feel so welcome!

I started with the Harlequin Blaze books, but have gone through most of what the library has on the shelves. I've also done a number of the Temptations. I tried a couple of the Intrigue's, but hated them.

Generally, I found a Blaze author I liked and then read other books they had written. Vicki Lewis Thompson, Stephanie Bond, and Tori Carrington are three good examples of this.

I also really like authors who make me laugh while taking me along on the journey. In addition to the three mentioned above, Carly Phillips, Jennifer Crusie, and Victoria Dahl spring to mind.

Others I've liked are Marie Donovan, Susan Andersen, and Jacquie D'Alessandro. I could go on, but you get the idea.

1570669 Hi Jim. What authors do you like so far?

My first foray into romance was historical, so deep in my heart, it's still my first love. My second love is paranormal romance. And I am a huge Harlequin/Silhouette junkie, as many of my GR friends know.

message 69: by Kim (new)

925549 Hi, Jim. I think we've got a lot in common! (who doesn't like a little smut now and then?)

message 68: by Arch (new)

1610104 Hi Jim. Welcome.

message 67: by Photojim (new)

2640658 Howdy, I'm Jim. I started reading romance novels about a year ago after avoiding them like the plague for decades. I just joined GR about a week ago and am still finding my feet and adding books. Adding books is fairly daunting as I usually read 10-30K pages per year and I'm 40. I still have yet to get into a historical romance. And I tend to prefer my romance novels to be fairly smutty. (I'll admit that as that is why I read the first one.)

message 66: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 That's okay. It happens. :-)

2459823 Hi Kathrynn:

could have been...i may have posted in wrong place.

message 64: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 Southpaw, was that post meant for this group? I'm not aware of any group reads in the Contemporary Romance Group. :-)

message 63: by southpaw285 (new)

2459823 Hi Kathrynn:

I have a question about our book for this month. Since it is part of a series, should I read books 1 and 2 first? Will it give anything away if I start with this one?

Thanks for your help.

message 62: by Arch (new)

1610104 Hello Southpaw258. Welcome!

message 61: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 Welcome to GRs and this Group, Southpaw285. :-) If you need any help or have any questions about this Site or Group(s), feel free to PM me or we can create a new topic here for GRs questions.

Good to see you here. :-)

1918270 You're welcome, southpaw! I have tons of fun here - and, hopefully, you'll have it too! But be aware: hanging around here, your TBR is likely to get out of control. ;)

message 59: by southpaw285 (new)

2459823 Hi, I'm southpaw and am new to goodreads...thanks to seton, dina and melissab, as they recommended it to me.

I just recently started reading romance again. I happened to pick up a copy of "Tangled Up In You" (Rachel Gibson) several months back, and really enjoyed it.

Currently I'm reading "Lola Carlyle Reveals All".

It is great to have a romance group, and I am really enjoying the goodreads site.

Thanks again to seton, dina and melissab for recommending it.

886675 Hi Sobia, welcome.:) Love some of those authors you mentioned!

message 57: by Arch (new)

1610104 Hi Sobia, welcome!

message 56: by Sobia (new)

2125909 Hi :)
My name's Sobia, pronounced So-Be-Ah, but most people just call me Sobe (like the drinks :D )...I joined a few days (weeks?) ago and apparently forgot to intro myself.... So better late then never :D

Um...I've only been reading romances for the last 3 years or so, but have become a total junkie.... I'll read anything so long as there's at least some Romance in it... Though a few favorites would be Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb, Karen Rose, Lisa Marie Rice, CL Wilson's Fading Lands series and Nalini Singh's Psy series ...

And though my already overstuffed TBR pile might not agree, I'm looking forward to reading through some of the older posts for more recs!

Nophoto-f-25x33 Arch, thank's for the welcome.

Kathrynn thank's for the welcome, and I'm all for a "help, looking for topic" :) I get stumped with book titles all the time, but for some reason this one I can't figure out. Knowing my luck, I have it all wrong and I'm mixing three or four different books together.

669573 Welcome to the Group, Laurie! I'm not familiar with that one, but going to start a "help, looking for topic." :-)

1610104 Hi Laurie. Welcome!

message 52: by Laurie (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 Hi, my name is Laurie, I'm new to good reads. I just found this website a few days ago because I've been looking for a book that I read 10+ years ago or so and I can't remember the name or author. If anyone can help me out, here is the information that I think I remember about the book. It was a contemporary romance, the main characters were I think Stephanie and Cade. It takes place primarily on a Texas Ranch. The gist of the book is that Stephanie works for a director who wants to film a movie on Cade's ranch, but Cade is reluctant so the director send's Stephanie out to get Cade's approval and then the book progress as they usually do. If anyone can help me in identifying the book I would really appreciate it. I'm not sure why it suddenly popped into my head after all of these years, but now it's like a song you can't get out of your head and it's driving me nuts. I look forward to getting to know everyone and conversing regarding contemporary romances.

Laurie

2307144 Thanks for the welcomes! Some of my favorite authors are Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Carly Phillips. I know there are many, many others, but those are the first two that come to mind. Right now I'm reading "Virgin River," my first Robyn Carr book (a recommendation from this group.) I will have it finished today; a rare feat for me these days!

1610104 Hey Ashley. Welcome!

message 49: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 Hi Ashley, welcome to the group! :-)

message 48: by Ashley (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 Hello!! I'm Ashley and I am addicted to reading romance novels. :0) I absolutely love to read and I will read whenever, wherever I can - I love to lose myself in the lives of the main characters in the books. I've read a lot of authors and loved each one for some reason or another..but I have to say my top favorites are Rachel Gibson, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Carly Phillips, Deirdre Martin, Susan Donovan (LOVE the books "He Loves Lucy" and "Take a Chance on Me"), and I'm really beginning to like Jennifer Greene (she just has a much different writing style/storyline style than I tend to lean towards). I love to get new suggestions on new authors I haven't read before - every once in awhile I get worried that I'm going to run out of books to read and then I find a new author I love so please please keep me updated! :0)

Anyways, that is my long-winded intro...I tend to write alot as an FYI. :0)

669573 Welcome Sharona. What have you read, so far--in romance?
:-)

message 46: by Arch (new)

1610104 Hello Sharona826. Welcome!

message 45: by Sharon A. (new)

2307144 Hi, I'm Sharon, and I grew up reading my grandma's harlequin romances! While I read lots of other types of fiction, I still love a good romance read. I'm looking forward to adding lots of new authors to my "to read" list.
