They sell them in the gift shop at the butterfly house, apparently. I got two crickets and two grubs. The box said they were roasted before being dipped into the chocolate. They weren't bad although a cricket wing got stuck in my teeth. It was like a peanut skin.

1144499 Dan. Dude. They're bugs.

1757741 excellent dan. crunchy?

They tasted much more like chocolate than bug.

message 3656: by Larry (new)

1144499 Heh heh. Yeah.

message 3657: by Jim (new)

1668388 I've eaten deep fried grasshoppers before, not a lot of taste, just crunchy.

message 3658: by Larry (new)

1144499 Good source of protein, I guess.

message 3659: by RandomAnthony (new)

721021 That's what she said.

message 3660: by Larry (new)

1144499 Oh good one.

1668388 Yeah RA, well used.

Heh. But I can just, you know, walk around the ficus to another spot, right? Or do I have to stay right here? Is there an electric fence?

high-fives Larry, Jim, and Kevin

:)

I think it all depends on where Sally is. If she's on the other side of the ficus I would stay put.

1639357 Haahahahahahaahha! Thanks for the laugh guys. :D *wipes tears*

Just an update for those who'd like to know. My MIL is in a state of locked-in syndrome, due to swelling in her brain, but they have no idea if she'll come out of it or not. One doc was Dr. Gloom, but another said he'd seen a patient worse off and still come back. And that he wouldn't give us hope if there was none. So, we'll see what happens. It will probably be a few weeks before we really know.

Thanks for the good vibes guys. :)

message 3667: by Larry (new)

1144499 Aw man that's hard. Sorry, Sher.

1668388 Lets hang onto the good possibilities.

Hang in there Sher.

1757741 growing a mohawk

message 3671: by BunWat (new)

747169 Ha! Now I'm imagining Kevin sitting in a corner thinking "grow mohawk, grow!"

1757741 it is a WIP at this point. something diff for me. i keep wanting to say "RYTE" with an english accent and a sneer

message 3673: by Sarah Pi (new)

642041 Good luck with the mohawk, Kev. Can you get your hands on some drums?

I am desperately trying to stay awake. My dad and sister are both arriving at the airport as I write this. I came into work at a ghastly 7 am so I could leave at 3, check on the pony, and still make it home at a reasonable hour to spend time with the usually faraway sis and dad.

Right this moment nothing seems like a reasonable hour. Sooooooooo sleeeeeeeeepy.

1002888 I just got back from the doctor's office - apparently I don't have the flu... WOO HOO!

I just have conjunctivitis (pink eye), photophobia (new word for me - not afraid of light, just... bright light is painful in that eye), and some sort of bronchial virus. :)

message 3675: by Jaimie (new)

1594222 I'm tired and I don't want to be at work today. I've got about 2 hours and 45 minutes before I can leave.

message 3676: by Jim (new)

1668388 Glad to hear you don't have the flu Heidi.

Hang in there Jaimie the weekends coming.

966475 Right now I'm listening to country music (for some unknown reason) and grading papers. I love grading on Friday afternoons. The pressure is off, I don't feel hurried to get home and start relaxing, cooking, doing other stuff before I start on homework.

message 3683: by Larry (new)

1144499 There it is.

message 3684: by BunWat (new)

747169 Are you going to grow it really long and spike it?

1757741 prob not. i am just having fun with it right now. my daughter loves it. my youngest son just giggles and i think my wife secretly likes the bad boy look :)

message 3686: by Cosmic Sher (new)

1639357 Oh man, you need to grow it long & dye it purple! And, heck yea, what woman doesn't like the bad boy look? hehehe

message 3687: by Windfall Apple (new)

2848638 I'm with you Cosmic Sher on that one!

1757741 what apple, the long and purple look?

message 3689: by Cosmic Sher (new)

1639357 Definitely purple... yea, definitely.

1757741 getting ready to re-pierce the ear i think. it has been like 10 years since i wore an earring but i am feeling it (hoop only) and also thinking INK

message 3691: by Angie (new)

2343573 Do you have any tattoos already Kevin?

Also, count me in for the purple mohawk. Sadly, I don't think I have any leftover purple hair dye to send him. :(

1757741 yup. but thinking of another (only if it is cool and unique. no *** hat or gay neck tats. only something original)

message 3693: by Knarik (new)

2025333 My brother's friend tattooed the skin under his feet, and when he was lying, one was able to read the words " They are tired"

message 3694: by Jim (new)

1668388 President is coming to Madison today to visit one of the Middle Schools to talk about health care. No public appearance.

They have given plenty of warnings that your flight might be delayed, and that traffic will be a problem during his trip from the airport on the north side to the school on the south side.

message 3695: by Jaimie (new)

1594222 I feel like I'm in the movie Office Space. Grrrr!

message 3696: by BunWat (new)

747169 When your brother's friend was lying down, Knarik. Lying would mean he wasn't telling the truth. Oh, but maybe he wasn't!

2711688 Jaimie wrote: "I feel like I'm in the movie Office Space. Grrrr!"

That was a great movie, I feel like that everyday at work. It's so pathetic, when Friday comes and everyone is getting ready for the weekend, I'm in my office going "it's only 2 days till this crap starts all over again" I think that qualifies as one of the top 10 signs you're ready to leave your job...

message 3698: by RandomAnthony (new)

721021 I do not want a cubicle next to Jamie.

message 3699: by Jamie (new)

2711688 Actually I love my job, and I have a lot of customers who won't have me leave, besides, I bake cookies for the guy in the office next to me...

message 3700: by Heidi (new)

1002888 I just can't wait until after November! I started listening to my holiday music today. I have almost 20 hours of holiday music altogether on the latest playlist. :)

I made my officemate promise me she'll let me know if it starts getting on her nerves. So far, so okay... It probably helps that it's on "random shuffle."
