I loved this book! it was really good! i have to agree with JG though, Po from kung fu panda kept coming to mind when i thought of Prince Po:) but it was still a great book!

Yeah, I kept thinking of the Teletubbies. The name Bitterblue bugged me, as well. Overall, though, I really enjoyed the book.
I loved this book! I really thought there would be a sequel too. I'll be happy with anything the author writes if she can pull off something like this again.Po's name bothered me too. I couldn't get past Po from Kung Fu Panda in my head. Jack Black and Katsa's Po? Nothing alike.
I preorded Hunger Games in november last year and only just got it two weeks ago, it was only published in march in Australia. It was worth the wait, I hate starting series that haven't been finished yet because it means I have to wait for the next books to come out.
I should pre-order both Fire and Catching Fire but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
yeah, Hunger Games was AMAZING! It and Graceling are easily my favorite books I've read this year so far.
The Knife of Never Letting Go? what is that about?
And amazon is amazing! Who ever thought of it is a genius....and also probably very rich
Ooooo, I love Hunger Games too! I pre-ordered the sequel to that Catching Fire; the sort of sequel to Graceling Fire, as well as the sequel to The Knife of Never Letting Go, which is called The Ask and the Answer. Love Amazon!! Can't wait for fall!!
I thought that too after I finished....which made me excited because I didn't want the book to end. I hate getting to the last chapter of a really good book...Maybe she's going to write a prequel and then a sequel? But that seems a little silly
yeah my bad...I don't know what made me think it was already out.
I don't get it though, because I thought Graceling was set up for a sequel at the end, and I am super disappointed there isn't one :(
let's see the sequel to hunger games comes out in September I think, and then fire comes out in October.....that should fill up by fall reading quite nicely.
I liked the book a lot but I thought the author build up Katsa's grace too much I thought it was rather obvious after a while
ooh I can't wait either Meghan. That is right around my birthday so maybe someone will get it for me. hehe.
Saved by Grace, I think you will enjoy this book. It has action, romance and a little suspense in it.
I actually just added this book to my TBR list because I saw someone had added it on the homepage and it looked interesting. :)
I am finished with Graceling. I LOVED it. I agree with you completly Allison it's a wonderful YA fantasy love story without the control issues that Edward had in Twilight. Po is a wonderful, gentle man.
Meghan, so there is a series out or is the author making this become a series?
YEA!!!!!!! Another lover! Continue with your conversions... we will conquer the world with Graceling love!!!
I read about the other books in the "series"... which I still think will be pretty cool, since the world she creates is so fascinating.
I am on page 300 of this book. I love it. I have a feeling by the time I am done with it I am going to want more. :~)
I'm pretty sure I'm going to be obsessed with this book for awhile. I'm going to start recommending it for everyone that loved Twilight. Its a YA fantasy love story, where the relationship doesn't feed off obsessive angst.
if you go to the author's website, I think she does mention a prequel and a follow up, but i don't think Katsa and Po are the main focus...just a part.
mkay I requested Graceling on interlibrary loan and I'm going to pick it up today! Good advertising, Meghan! :)

Meghan, not sure how this book would stack up to Graceling, but I immediately thought of the book, "The Stolen Child" by Keith Donahue. I found it to be a great fairy-tale type, little weird, interesting story!
PS I already added Graceling to my TBR (top of) after reading about it yesterday!
Er... no no I'm supposed to be a good little conscience telling everyone not to buy any more books... Apart from Howl's Moving Castle and I Capture the Castle of course. Everything else err... well. I have no say.As to the discussion at hand... it does sound kinda good but what kind of name is Prince Po? Too close to Poo in my book. The story though, sounds interesting but I am immediately suspicious of an author who comes up with such a name as Po. At least Poe you would have thought but even so. Unfortunate name even for Edgar Allen Poe.
Yeah well. If that was really the plan, I probably wouldn't be here. haha.
Plus I had to add this to my wishlist on Bookmooch too, so who knows how long it'll actually take me to get the book.
And anyway Fiona...aren't you supposed to be one of my enablers? (And...in the spirit of enabling...it looks like something you would like too.)
Lori - I searched this thread for mention of this book but didn't find it - if I am posting in the wrong spot please feel free to move me! :)
Has anyone else read Graceling by Kristin Cashore? It is a FABULOUS YA fantasy/sci-fi novel by a first time author, and I am in LOVE with it. It is one of those novels that gets in your head, and you continue to think about the characters and the world in which they live long after you have finished reading.
Have you read it? Did you love it as much as I did? Do you find yourself wishing you were "graced" with some special ability? Have you heard if there will be a sequel?
I am (also) desperately searching for something in the same genre to follow it up with... if you want to delve into that here as well.
Happy reading!
