434780 Another inspired idea by Tasha, the challenge is to read books which first letters spell out your name. You can use first name, nickname, last name or complete name...it's your choice.

It will look like this, again using Tasha's as an example.

T: Tempting the Beast by Lora Leigh
A: Assignment by Evangeline Anderson
S: Strictly Taboo by Jaid Black
H: Hot Spot by Susan Johnson
A: Amaryllis by Jayne Castle

Duration: You can begin anytime you want but it must be completed by June 30, 2009.

Why not check out the A-Z Book Challenge and see what everyone's listed for Y and Z. For Z I choose Zoya by Danielle Steele.

1504904 Yz wrote: "I'm always up for an excuse to read more books...but I will probably need help with my first name..LOL.."

For Y you could go with: You Slay Me - MacAlister, it's PNR, and quite popular...

message 10: by Yz (last edited Feb 07, 2009 12:28PM) (new)

434780 BriansGirl,

I can't handle Danielle Steele..no offense..LOL...

Kasia,
I have You Slay Me as the book picked for me by Glori in Tricia's Pick It For Me Challenge. I'm hoping not to duplicate...but I guess, I can put that in...until I find another one..

message 11: by Kasia, Tender Barbarian (last edited Feb 07, 2009 01:18PM) (new)

1504904 ok, so I haven't read those... but this is what I was looking up for my A-Z challenge for Y:

You Don't Know Jack - Erin McCarthy

You Can't Go Home Again - Thomas Wolfe

No offense taken. I'm not a Danielle Steele fan either. I have 6 of her books because I got them as part of my $1/bag sales. I can't remember reading any of them yet. Then again, Z was such a hard letter to find a book for... I figured I could try one.

message 14: by Yz (new)

434780 My Mom read Zoya a long time ago, when I was a little girl. If I can remember correctly, she is some sort of Russian royalty..or something.

Thanks for the suggestion though...I appreciate it.

Now, on for the search for the Z-book...LOL..

1504904 5 more books to add to my AZ challenges (no duplicating)= 57, yay!

Kitty Raises Hell (Kitty Norville, Book 6)The Art of Racing in the RainStray (Werecats, Book 1)I Capture the CastleThe Adoration of Jenna Fox
K.....Kitty Raises Hell - Carrie Vaughn
A.....The Art of Racing in the Rain - Garth Stein
S......Stray (changed from Shogun)
I.......I Capture the Castle (changed from Imperium)
A......The Adoration of Jenna Fox - Mary Pearson

DONE!!

(I've made a few changes and I'm done, now I can start stressing about other challenges...)

1895628 I've tried reading Shogun several times. I've gotten at least half way through but I never seem to be able to finish it for some reason. It's been at least 15+ years since I've picked it up though.

1504904 BriansGirl wrote: "I've tried reading Shogun several times...."

Ohh... now you're scarring me :). I've read King Rat by Clavell few years back, and loved it. So I hope this is readable. In the worst case I'll chuck it after 50 pages

message 24: by Briansgirl "Master Book Sale Huntress" (last edited Feb 08, 2009 08:40AM) (new)

1895628 I've read King Rat at least twice. :0)
I could probably get through Shogun if I tried again. Maybe I was too young for such a thick book when I tried 20 years ago to read it. It is, after all, 1210 pages. (And mines a paperback, lol, so it's 2 inches thick.) It's one of those books that eventually I'd like to finish reading but I'd have to start over again since I don't remember anything 20 years later.

1425545 Wow, this could be fun, but will probably take a while! I'm probably going to need some suggestions for books that start with an "E". I need 6 of them! So far, here are the books that I plan on:

K - Kitty Raises Hell by Carrie Vaughn
E - Embrace the Night by Karen Chance
L - Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry
L -

message 31: by Yz (new)

434780 Kelley Anne,

You have until June 30 to complete this challenge, so that should be around 5 months from now...LOL..

Some books that starts with E that I can think of are the following:

Ecstasy by Jacquelyn Frank (her first book for her new Shadowdweller series)

Eternal Pleasure by Nina Bangs ( first book also in a series...interesting twist..you get heroes with dinosaur soul forms..you just have to check it out..LOL..)

Two anthologies I haven't read: An Enchanted Season and Eternal Lover.

If you like chick-lit with a PNR twist, you can also try Enchanted, Inc. or if you like Young Adult fantasy, Eragon. Listen to it in audio, it's better.

message 32: by Melissa (new)

325271 I could only come up with a few chick lit titles that I've read that start with E:

Every Woman For Herself - Trisha Ashley
English As a Second Language - Megan Crane
Everyone Else's Girl - Megan Crane

message 33: by Kasia, Tender Barbarian (new)

1504904 here are a few that i've read / plan to read:

Everyone Worth Knowing - Weisberger
Every Which Way But Dead - Harrison (3rd in series)
Ender's Game
Equal Rites - Pratchett
Eric - Pratchett
Enigma - Harris

with Pratchett it's all part of series, but as far as I remember you don't have to read them in order, cause the main character changes from book to book...

1339156 Kaisa, I loved Enders Game. A friend of mine gave me that book last June and it, and Twilight, got me hooked on reading again.

1339156 Kelly Anne, here are a few "E" books that I found on my list...

Embrace the Night
Elijah(3rd in the series)
Embrace the Night(3rd in the series)

message 36: by Kasia, Tender Barbarian (new)

1504904 Enders Game is in my AZ challenge & I've heard soooooo many good things about it ;)

And it's funny, cause I got back to reading around last June as well, just in my case it was Sookie that got me hooked (but Twilight followed right after). Small world.

message 37: by Kelley Anne (new)

1425545 Thanks for the suggestions! That helps a lot!
