Barb's 50 books for 2009
I’m hoping to read fifty in 2009 without counting audio books. For now they’re staying on the list.
1. Smiley's People by John le Carré
2. The Debriefing by Robert Littell
3. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K Dick
4. Skinny Dip by Carl Hiaasen (audio)
5. Borkmann's Point: An Inspector Van Veeteren Mystery by Håkan Nesser
6. A Coffin for Dimitrios by Eric Ambler
7. Whiteout by Ken Follett (audio)
8. Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons
9. Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic by Alison Bechdel
10. The Road by Cormac McCarthy
I've decided to break my list up between traditional versus audio books.
Books:
10. The History of Love by Nicole Krauss
Audiobooks:
2 total (see previous entries)
30. The Nonrunner's Marathon Guide for Women Get Off Your Butt and On with Your Training by Dawn Dais
Barb wrote: "40. Storm Front by Jim Butcher"Hi Barb! How was this one? I watched the Dresden TV series on Sci Fi a couple years ago and thought it was an interesting story line.
I picked this one up mostly because of the popularity of urban fantasy novels. I wanted to see what the buzz was all about. This one reads like a modern day Raymond Chandler novel with wizards! Nothing too deep or earth provoking here, but it was definitely a fun, easy and entertaining read.Reading the book has made me curious about the TV series. I might need to check it out.
TV show doesn't have the best acting :), but sounds like the book - entertaining and easy to get sucked into.
