Hey Robin,

I took a peek at your books and noticed that you do not have Eclipse on your list as read. Have you read it yet? If not, you should probably give that a try before you read Breaking Dawn.

Well....There is a story there....I read the first two - Loved Twilight was bored by New Dawn. And had convinced myself not to read the others but if I read Eclipse I knew I would HAVE to read Breaking Dawn. Now I've heard enough to know the "basic" plots points to both of them. I'm doing a "winter challenge" and I need to read a romance - and of all the romances I could think of I would prefer something from this series. So I reserved them both from libaray and BD was available but Eclipse is still like 70 people away. I'm actually interested in reading them "not sequentially to seem if all makes sense - I may go back and read Eclipse after -who knows.....

I'm about a little over half way through The Hero of Ages. It seems a bit slower paced compared to the first two books, to be honest. Maybe it has something to do with the book being hardcover, more words on a page, and all that.

Next up will probably be The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling.

Well, I finally received my copy of Griffin's Daughter (a bit late). I'll try and get to that ASAP so I can join in the discussion.

I just got Queen of the Darkness by Anne Bishop - the third in the Black Jewels Trilogy (which, from what I can tell isn't a trilogy at all).

I also FINALLY got Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey and am REALLY excited about it.

Coming soon in the mail is the second in Goodkind's Sword of Truth series and I'll likely also pick up the third of the Wheel of Time series.

For the Historical Fiction group on here I'm going to read Katherine by Anya Seton. The group is also reading Outlander, which I've read, but I'm the mod leading the discussion so may re-read.

I'm also getting into Dragonfly in Amber in the same Outlander series.

Whew!! Where do you all find the time to read so many books?!!! I'm lucky to finish one book every 2-3 months! Sadly(or happily, depending on how one looks at it) my life is so busy with work-related stuff and everything else I have or wnat to do, I only get to read 10-15 minutes a day for pleasure. At this rate, I'll never finish my 'To Read' list! WAAAAAAH!!!!

I commute to and from work on public transit so I always get 2 hours of reading a day.

So do I, Robin! Exactly 1.5 hours of reading per day. I'll be sad when we ever move away from NYC and I have to give up my built in reading time!

Also, I really enjoyed JR&MN, but I like historical fiction AND fantasy, so maybe that helped? I thought this was a great melding of the two genres - the footnotes were some of the best part of the entire book for me!

And as for your romance, Robin, you should come read Outlander with our group!

I hope you love Game of Thrones - I was immediately addicted and had to work really hard not to speed through them with the knowledge that he's writing soooo slooooowly.

Well, I received a copy of The Host A Novel by Stephenie Meyer from the library much sooner than I expected. It is a new book, so I only have two weeks to read the 600 page monster.

Just finished Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling, and will be starting Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire soon.

Still reading Mistborn The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, and The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan. However I have quite a few other books checked out from the library and I have to attend to some of them first.

Ya JS&MN - is Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. Just a typo.

Gail, I had trouble getting into it as well, but once Jonathan Strange was introduced into the mix I thought it really took off. Again, just me.

I hope to get to The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, and I want to finish up book 2 in the Night World series.

I hope I can get all these done. A number of them are for bookclubs - My Good Omens Book club is on Sunday but I'm enjoying it so much I'm sure I can have it finished up in a day or so.

I read the gormenghast trilogy long ago, however am going to re-read it in between some wheel of time books, since i will shortly be attending a lecture by sebastian peake.

I just read a great little mystery novel I got out of the library for my wife, called Without Mercy A "Where Are They Now?" Mystery. The premise involves a made-up TV show from the 70s called Kissing Cousins, which is supposed to be a combination of The Addams Family and the Brady Bunch. Three 'normal' kids and three wierdos in one house, children of two sisters. It's a show I'd watch if it were on now.

I've finished Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card. It left me impressed, and gave more depth to the fabulous Ender's Game.

At the moment I'm reading Hyperion by Dan Simmons; very good but it takes some concentration to follow everything that's going on (not that that's a bad thing...).
Also, I'm reading Blindness by Jose Saramago. The Dutch version, to be precise, translated as 'Stad der Blinden'.

I'm reading a bunch of stuff right now. I keep picking things up, then putting them down and picking something else up. I just started A Game of Thrones and I love it, so I bought the rest of the series (the ones that are out, anyway).

I am currently reading The Pearls (Fantasy) by Deborah Chester. I am almost done. I am hoping to then finish Revelation Space (Science Fiction) by Alastair Reynolds.

I'm slowly reading Donnerjack & still trying to finish 4 other books I started. I really need to find more time to read. More hours per day needed!

Has anybody ever read anything by Jennifer Roberson? A friend gave me Karavans #1 to read, so I'm wondering if it's worth a shot...

Leslie, it also takes me awhile to get through a book. I tried rotation reading (reading a little from a different book every day) but I just gave that up to concentrate on one book at a time. With my teaching day job and writing aspirations I have just come to the conclusion that I will have to force reading and electronic entertainment into the post midnight hours. So, unless I learn how to speed read, I will have to abandon my one book a week goal. Sigh!

Update: I finished both Queen of the Darkness and Kushiel's Dart and adored them both. I've heard the two series compared and I can see where that comes from, though I think Kushiel's Dart is superior. I can't wait to get further into that world!

Also finished Song of Solomon which I could appreciate for its beauty, but didn't love myself. Working on Gilead A Novel now, which is short and will likely be followed by another fantasy novel... I need my fix! :)

For fantasy books: I finished The Faerie Path, which I thought was just dreadful. I'm now reading Yvain, Or, the Knight With the Lion, which is much better.

I just finished The Hero of Ages yesterday. Totally didn't see that ending coming. I'm already missing these characters. :( It was a fantastic trilogy.

I must confess that I was a bit disappointed in This one. It was a quick fun read - but I thought it could have been so much more. I think it is great that all the profits are going to chairty.

I'm currently reading Thunderhead having finished The Crown Conspiracy in only 3 days :-( (well, it took 4 calendar days, but I didn't have time to read on one of those days) Thunderhead is not exactly a fantasy, it is classified as a suspense? But is one of those books that is difficult to classify. There are paranormal-types of characters, archaeology, space science, history and who knows what else I'll encounter? I've run across all that in just 53 pages! A friend gave me the book because she knew of my interest in southwestern US native american tribes, particularly the Anasazi. It's really fascinating so far!

"Good Omens" and "Neverwhere" are two of the best books I read last year. They're both quick reads. I love the movie "Princess Bride" and am really looking forward to the book. I wasn't incredibly impressed with "Game of Thrones". It's got way too many story lines and characters. It never wraps up any of the many story lines. It's a huge, long book that just sets up a sequel. I decided not to read the rest of the series because it's just way too many volumes and the author isn't even finished yet.

I finished The Tales of Beedle the Bard. I thought it was pretty cute, but the real highlight was Dumbledore's commentary of course.

Now I'm reading The Bone Doll's Twin by Lynn Flewelling.

Yay, Sandi! I didn't like Game of Thrones either. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one - I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me. :-)

I'll also cast a vote for Good Omens - I still laugh (but to myself) about parts of that book. I also liked Princess Bride and it is a lot like the movie but his "asides" are very interesting.
