Slowly the drop falls
Bright red in the light
Dark upon the stone

From the knife, the axe, the
Bludgen--Tools of the trade
Of the ill; of the insane
	drip

Thick or thin
Red or blue
Warm or cold
	drip

Tears of the universe
Bane of the angel
Nectar of the night
	drip

For country; for religion;
For honor; for fun;
For no reason
	drip

Dripping into a deep, dark, puddle
Lapped up by the wild dogs
Glorified by the civilized man
