description:
The closest to a novel I'll ever get to. It's a fan fiction story I wrote sometime through 7th to 8th grade. Of course, it's based on the Metroid series. The vocabulary isn't complicated at all, I'd think a sixth grader could read it.

Enjoy!

Training

Samus was ready. For the first time in her life, she was ready. Ever since she was adopted by Chozo as a child, she had been training for this very moment.
She slowly walked into the chamber in front of her. They warned her, “This chamber wasn't meant for 16 year old soldiers!”, but she felt that she was ready.
Plasma Blaster in hand, she walked to the entrance. Slowly, the circular doors closed behind her. The training was ready to begin.
“Welcome, Samus, to the Training Chamber. Here, we will hone your skills, and hopefully you will become a fine soldier. Do you know the task?” a voice asked through the intercom.
“No, what is it?” replied Samus.
“You are to venture through the chamber and acquire a ballistic weapon. Afterwards you are to exit the chamber before a deadly gas poisons you. Do you really believe that you are ready?”
“Yes. Begin the mission.” she commanded.
A loud beep was emitted and the metallic chamber around her quickly shifted to a jungle environment. With leaves around her, she trudged through the forest.
After quite some time, she stumbled upon a cave. The inside of the cave was brightly lit, and gave the walls a brown glow. Slowly, she walked inside. As she progressed through the surprisingly straight cave, she heard a noise. It seemed to get louder as she walked further. At one point, the noise was so loud that she had to clamp her ears with her hands. At this time, the cave closed off to a bright blue door. Taking no risks, she took out her blaster and shot the door.
The door blew open with little resistance. Pieces of the door now laid in pieces around her. She walked into the room that the door revealed.
It was quiet. The noise was gone. Suddenly, a blast smashed her in the back. She flew into the wall, got up, and looked around. A monstrous creature was climbing the walls! She noticed a missile right behind the creature. The creature spewed another blast of plasma at her. She quickly dodged the blast, shot the creature several times, and hid behind a stalagmite. Gasping for air, she heard nothing. She peered out from behind the rock. Another blast came straight for her face! She turned back behind the rock and then shot the creature several more times.
The creature exploded. The walls of the room were covered with the guts of the creature. She walked behind the point of explosion, grabbed the missile, and hurried out of the room.
Outside of the cave, the jungle was covered with a grey mist. She remembered that after she had obtained the item, a gas would kill if she didn't hurry.
She ran. She ran fast. She ran far. Slowly, the gas affected her senses. She couldn't see much, but she ran anyway. All of a sudden, a branch caught her fall, and she blacked out.
