DIVE
6:08 pm Friday afternoon
Sitting amongst the old tired ones
Watching the ugly have a good time
I sit besides them in silence
Observing with a careful eye
Hoping not to catch a glimpse
A glimpse into their souls
Would be too much to bear
What a horrible scene this is
I drift away into a can of Bud
His old buddy Jack D. by his side
Is this what it’s like to be miserable?
At the edge of the Bar
Looking up again I see a soul
And catch the sight of my soul as well
One day I shall be up there
Old and miserable
Getting wasted after work
In a dark dive bar at 6:00 pm
Till then I guess I’ll have another can of Bud
back to top
