As I approached the flashing lights and frightened people, I never could exclaim how I felt inside. I had just got bitten by a copperhead snake. The ambulance workers put me on the stretcher as my friends and family watched.

Suddenly, I had a feeling of pain in my left foot. As they examined my blood for venom or tissue, I lay there worried that no one would ever see me again. My dad by my side helping me through everything had a worried, sad face.

Finally, we made it to the hospital. It smelled of soap and injured people. They rushed me into the Emergency Room and told me to put on the hospital clothes. Later on, I got into the hospital bed.

After I got all settled, the nurse came in and asked me extremely huge questions. The doctor came in and checked my foot. Every time the venom grew he drew on my swollen foot. Since he came in so often, I couldn’t fall asleep, so I sat there and wondered what everyone was thinking at home.

Eventually at 3:30 in the morning, I made it home. That morning, my neighbors brought notes and a flower to help me feel better. When I answered my door they saw how purple and bruised my foot was. I have learned that you should never run around at night without shoes on. It changed me by seeing how much my friends and family really cared.
