Reflection
Courtney (VampireGirl)
I look through the window
at the girl staring back at me.
She attempts a smile
but once again fails miserably.
I watch her with caution
wondering why she cries.
Her guarded eyes leak sorrowful tears;
tears produced from heartbreaking lies.
I yearn to reach out in comfort
and help her see the light.
She cringes from my non-existent touch,
thriving in the shadows of night.
Her face is a blank mask,
her smile a false facade.
No one looks past her pained beauty
as her soul begins to fade.
Our hands reach out uselessly,
attempting to connect.
Instead they hit an invisible wall;
an immidiate deflect.
Without the connection, I am lost
so alone and very cold.
She mirrors my helpless actions
and I watch her tears of gold.
I help you; you help me,
a plan made in perfection,
but how is that supposed to work
when I'm the girl in the reflection?
