I felt the pain in me
when I had to say goodbye
to the only man I loved,
for I did not want him to see me die.

It was quick and very sad.
I saw the torment in his eyes,
I prayed to God to help him
because I could not bare to see him cry.

I shook his hand, kissed his cheek
and left without another word.
I glanced behind my shoulder,
he was gone, soaring high above just like a little bird.

The rain had finally stopped
but the clouds were still dull and gray,
I said my goodbyes;
the last words I would say.
