I walked slowly down the sidewalk, pulling parker along as we went. His sandy blonde hair was long and shaggy and his green eyes sparkled with excitement. I frowned. He was lucky to have the blonde hair, momma said he got it from grampa, who's hair is white now. I sigh and rolled my sky blue eyes while shaking out my long straight black hair, just like momma's.
Today was my first day of eighth grade, my last year in middle school. It was also Parker's first day of third grade, he had Mrs. Shell, my favorite teacher. I always left a little early so I could walk Parker to his class, but this year I was extra early so I could see Mrs. Shell.
"Amy?" Parker asked.
"What?" I asked, annoyed.
"Is third grade fun?" he asked.
I smiled a little, loving how he looked up to me.
"It's the best, especially with the teacher you have." I replied.
He gave me a releived smile and we continued on in silence.
"Amy!" a voice called from behind me.
I turned to see my friend Lizzie running down the street, he reddish brown ringlets of curls bouncing behind her.
"Lizzie!!" I screamed.
We hugged eachother tightly. Parker looked confused and she leaned down and kistted his nose, she adored him.
I remembered Parker saying one day he would marry Lizzie, it always made us laugh and she adored him for it. We didn't see eachother all summer because we were both away and parker looked up into her brown eyes and said:
"HI LIZZIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
She laughed at his excitement. We all walked down the street and into the empty school. It went from first to eighth grade. I led Parker to the third grade wing and opened Mrs. Shell's door.
"Mrs. Shell!" Lizzie and I cried when she turned to see who it was.
"Lizzie! Amy! If it isn't my two favorite students! My, my Amy, looking just like mum aren't we? And Lizzie, your CURLS! Oh, who do we have here?" she asked, looking around me and Lizzie.
"This is Parker, he's your newest student." I said proudly.
"So your Parker?" she asked with a smile.
"Yes ma'am" he said.
She smiled widely at him.
"Welcome to my class." she said happily, shaking his small hand.
Yes, this would be a wonderful year.
