I thought shadow travel was awesome, but not everyone had the same opinion as me.
When we took off, Annabeth's arms tightened their grip so much that she almost suffocated me. All I could feel was her grip and Mrs. O'Leary's fur and dog chain.
We materialized in some dark alleyway in New Hampshire. Annabeth loosened her grip and almost fell off. She stayed crouch on the ground with her arms stiff, breathing heavily and staring at the ground. her blond hair hung limply around her face, creating almost a curtain.
"You okay?" I asked her worriedly. I hadn't expected her reaction to be so bad.
"I'm okay... I think," She told me. Her breathing slowed, and eventually she stood up next to me and brushed the dust off of her knees. Mrs. O'Leary was already tired, so she curled up and went to sleep. I just hoped that no one could hear her loud snores, or at least hear something else other than a snoring hellhound. It'd cause a lot of surprise and need a lot of explaining.
I didn't want to leave Mrs. O'Leary there for a long time, because I had the feeling that I wasn't going home for a long time. I was about to wake her, but I felt my pocket grow a little heavier. I reached into my pocket and found a dog whistle made of ice. Weird. I knew what it would do, though, so I kept it in my pocket, safely tucked away.
I untied our stuff and let it plop on the ground. Mrs. O'Leary opened one eyes sleepily, but other than that, she stayed asleep.
Now here was the problem.
"We're here, now what?" I asked Annabeth.
She shrugged. "You brought me along, you started this little 'adventure,' you choose."
I groaned. "What are we supposed to do, just check into a hotel of something?"
She shrugged. "Do you have money?"
"No." I admitted. It was one of the few things I forgot.
She sighed but took out a wad of cash. "Keep that, for anything else," She instructed me. I stuffed it in my pocket.
I stood there a little longer. Staring into space.
Annabeth sighed. "Do the logical thing, Seaweed Brain. Call, her, text, just let her know that we're here, first of all," She said, sounding exasperated. "Then we can go look for her or look for a place to stay.
I felt stupid for not thinking of that.
Before we could do anything, I heard the sound of footsteps. But these footsteps were a little off, not as choppy as normal. Before I could do anything, Rachel run into the alleyway but stopped in her tracks when she saw Mrs. O'Leary. Her eyes grew wide, but then she saw me, and she burst out, "Percy! YOu're finally here!"
"I'm finally here," I repeated. "What's the problem?"
She looked around and saw Annabeth, who she nodded at. "I'm being chased by monsters. I don't know where they're coming from or how they find me, but they're everywhere I turn."
Mrs. O'Leary let out a huge snort in her sleep, causing Rachel to flinch.

I love this line: I could feel her shock and sorrow and even a little jealousy when she hung up the phone abruptly.
