I have to say, it feels good to have some peace.
Up until now, I've been haunted by the great prophecy. and now that's its over, it's great. Now that I've been 16 for about three weeks, I can finally relax a little more.
Even school was okay.
I swung my backpack off my shoulder and stuffed it into my locker. It was seriously crammed with papers and stuff, but I never cared enough to clean it out. On the door of my locker were pictures of Annabeth. She'd gone to a boarding school near me, because she had to monitor the changes of Olympus, since she was claimed architect of Olympus. In the pictures, we were at a lake Paul took us to for vacation. In one picture, the lake was a clear sea blue, as calm as glass, as if my dad felt like keeping it calm that day. Another picture showed me and Annabeth, canoeing. Annabeth had her curly blond hair tucked up in a yankees cap, but it wasn't her magic hat. Her glistening gray eyes were sparking as she laughed when I accidentally splashed her with water at the back of the canoe. I guess I missed her, but I could still see her pretty soon, since she lived so close to me.
The principal's voice sounded in the speaker, telling us to get to class. I thought about Rachel, trapped in New Hampshire in a stupid finishing school. I had to laugh at the image my mind created, but I still really missed her. She was like the only friend I had in this school, because she knew what was wrong with me. Er, at least different. But this entire year was different, since she was shipped off to finishing school about two weeks ago. I slammed my locker shut, but I had to smile. Maybe my second year in the same school won't be so hectic.
I was wrong. Well, sorta.
As I tried to make out the room numbers through my dyslexia, I didn't notice the jocks coming through. The cheerleaders were there as well, and I swear, I thought I saw one of the girls' hair flicker, like flames, but it was just a bad memory. I shook it off, but just as I tripped over one of the jocks' foot. I fell over on the hard carpeted floor while wondering why they carpet the floor if it isn't any softer.
"Di immortales," I cursed in Ancient Greek. Usually, I wasn't this uncoordinated. I could hear them laughing at me together, and it made me want to soak them in water with something. like, er, a water fountain.
After gathering up my stuff, I passed by Mr. Boring's(that really is his name) classroom, who was my reading and writing teacher last year. I shuddered when I thought of the crazy adventure Persephone forced on me last year, which started with Mrs. O' Leary, my pet hellhound, jumping onstage. I still wondered how the mist could disguise a dog the size of a truck for a small poodle.
When I finally found the right class, which turned out to be science, I just plopped my stuff down at a seat. In front of me sat a sink.
I peered over to the other side of the room, where the jock that tripped me happened to be sitting. I noticed his hands were dusty and dirty. I grinned evilly. when he turned on the sink to wash his hands, I concentrated hard.
"AAUUUUGGGG!!" I could hear his gargled yelps from this side of the room. I looked over again and I saw a large jet of water shooting out of a broken faucet, straight into his face.
Maybe this year won't be so bad after all.

I love this line: I could feel her shock and sorrow and even a little jealousy when she hung up the phone abruptly.
