I woke up still a little dizzy. I found myself in my bed in my apartment and there was Faith with her hand wound around Paul's waist and the other is laid on his chest. I blinked a few times trying to get a clearer and non-dizzy view and sat up.
"Oh, Cris. What happened to you? Faith asked.
I shook my head and I felt my head spin so I touched my forehead and steadied myself and I just realized Paul's hand was already on my elbow.
"I'm okay," I said and slightly shook his hand off trying not to be rude in front of Faith.
"Are you sure?"Paul asked as Faith looked up to see his worried face.
"You're lucky Paul was there when you fainted, Cris." Faith said and her voice was full of gratitude for her boyfriend and I was guessing she didn't know what happened before I fell unconscious.
"Well, what happened anyway?" she looked at me and then Paul.
I looked at Paul and with how he looked at me, I'm guessing he didn't tell her what was happening. And I was having a bad feeling that Faith wasn't aware of our acting in school because since her fake break-up with Paul, she spent time in the library or she was hiding in the stairs out of Trixie's claws so thyat Trixie wouldn't get more of the idea of our plan.
"Um.. I think the stress is gaining on me. You know, school stuff... cheerleading and other things," I said.
Paul's face didn't change. It still looked worried and I was feeling very tired already of this plan about Trixie because obviously it really wasn't working and it was making it hard for me not to fall for Paul more.
"And I think we should talk sometime soon, Faith," I looked at her.
"I mean just the two of us, girl bonding. Just to de-stress?" I forced out a smile at her.
"Sure. Of course," she smiled back.
"I don't think that will work, F-Faith," he interrupted.
And did he just statter on saying his girlfriend's name? Was he afraid that I'll tell him about the kisses? I'm not stupid, Paul. I won't tell her. I'm helping here so you two could end up together and not to break you guys up. I let out a deep breath.
"Don't worry, Paul. I promise you that this doesn't have anything to do about our school activities," I said emphasizing on the word "activities" and that didn't sound right for me.
Faith raised her brows in question on what I and Paul meant.
"I'm just getting tired from all of this and I want some girl time with my best friend," I said.
"Oh, not WANT. I mean I NEEd some girl time with Faith," I sounded that this was an urgent matter for me and yes, it was. I looked at Faith who was embracing Paul and then I also looked up at him.
He pushed her away unnoticeably and sat on the chair near my bed. I ignored that. Maybe he was embarrassed about Faith being so public but why did it matter? It was just me anyway.
"So Faith, I didn't see you at school today. Where were you?" I asked to change the atmosphere because it was getting a bit tense, at least to me, I think.
"I'm sorry I didn't call you. I went home for the day and see if my younger sister was getting better and I think she already is," she apologized.
"Well, couldn't you just wait for the weekend to..." I was saying when my phone rang.
"Justin?" I greeted.
"Yeah, I suppose so."
"Yup, they're here. Faith's here already,"
"Sure if you want to. I'll just be here anyway," I smiled when he said he's coming over later to replace my ice cream.
"Okay, later, bye," I said.
"So... tell me. Is he courting you already?" Faith asked in excitement and maybe forgetting that her boyfriend was there with listening.
I looked at Paul whose bad day was I think beginning to get into him again but I ignored him and I just shrugged with a half-smile on my face for an answer to Faith's question.
"Don't mind Paul. So tell me," she insisted but I knew that Justin was just my friend.
Paul suddenly stood up looking pissed. Maybe because Faith was telling me to ignore his presence though I'm not sure if it was really it.
"I'll just go, Faith. See you around," he started to walk away.
I let out a deep breath and I couldn't take it anymore. He just told his girlfriend to see him "around"? That's it!
"What's wrong with you Paul? You're being rude all the time now. Why don't you just tell us that you're also tired of this pretending game so that we could go back to our normal lives?!" I asked nearly yelling at him.
"So you're tired of me being around you? I did everything for you to notice that I want to spend time with you always!" he yelled back at me.
And we were all surprised with what he said. Faith looked so shocked and she seemed frozen in place.
"Faith..." I looked at her and she didn't move.
"I'm sorry, Faith..." Paul said and punched the wall with his knuckles. Then he looked up with both his hands on his waist thinking of something to say.
Faith forced out a smile and slung her bag on her shoulder. She stood up and shook her head.
"I... I knew from the start...but I tried to ignore it and..."she sniffed and wiped a tear out of her face.
"It's been a while. I thought..."
"I thought i was just being...paranoid," she forced out a laugh then sniffed again. She looked down still wearing a smile that gave me pain because I feel right now that she was in pain. Then she walked away.
"Faith..." I chased her before she could reach the door but she looked back at me and shook her head, still with that smile of disbelief in her face that what she was being afraid of was actually reality. How could Paul do this? I didn't understand. They have been together for so long. Why did he do it? I still don't get it. It's all so vague.
A/N: Guys! I'm sorry. This is all I can come up with today! It sucks... this whole mental block and warmth drainage thingy for someone to write something good. *sighs*
I still hope you'll like it.
