The first meeting of a book club will take place on Monday, October 1st at 6 p.m. in Zeriyab. The first book we will discuss is Man Booker Prize 2005 winner “The Sea” by John Banville. If you are not able to obtain a copy of this book, please contact me and I will give you my copy (or borrow it on a rotating basis if more than one person would like to read). The club will spend about an hour discussing and analyzing this work over coffee, and then we will set the book for the next meeting, to be held on the 14th of October.

Please contact me via e-mail at Jamie.marie.mandell@gmail.com to confirm or if you would like more information.

Looking forward to meeting all of you and to a great discussion!

Best,
Jamie

Synopsis of the Book (from back cover):
When art historian Max Morden returns to the seaside village where he once spent a childhood holiday, he is both escaping from a recent loss and confronting a distant trauma. The Grace family had appeared that long-ago summer as if from another world. Mr and Mrs Grace, with their worldly ease and candour, were unlike any adults he had met before. But it was his contemporaries, the Grace twins (silent, expressionless Myles, and fiery, seductively poised and forthright Chloe), who most fascinated Max. He grew to know them intricately, even intimately, and what ensued would haunt him for the rest of his years and shape everything that was to follow.
