I got this off a writing prompt at the write-in at my library...
anna is a normal girl, and she's loving it. her birthday is the most amazing day ever, for the most part. she gets over the bad part, though, and plans to have a good time at the birthday party that night, officially kicking off spring break. when a distant family friend gives her a gypsy card with eight baffling symbols on it and then meets a handsome and mysterious stranger, she doesnt see the connection. he warns her about the gypsy card and she keeps running into him long after the party is over. intrigued, she accepts his help, unaware that she had just set off a domino chain effect of events, one of which could result in her death... its all in the cards.

Prologue
It seems almost impossible for me to go back to that split second where it all started. It’s sad though, because I knew I could easily turn around and walk away.
But what would you do if something unexpected happened? Something that you were sure would be impossible but happened anyway? And you were subconsciously suppressing it and trying to prevent it from happening, but it was inevitable no matter how hard you tried? What would you do?
Curiosity is relentless; once it gets sight of you, there’s not even a glimmer of hope to escape. I should have known that.
When you subconsciously drag someone else in as well, it just gets more interesting.
And then you realize when you open your eyes that everything has changed, and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it.
It’s just the kind of thing that always happens, and you have to remember it.
