Thanks!!!
~~~This time, thankfully, her true parent answered. Her mother gasped and the look on her face said everything that was never said. The apologies, the kindness, happiness, and the sorrow especially. Her mother must have heard her dispute with her father, and felt horrible about it. She had hated her mom for what seemed like forever, but truely, it was her father who was the double-agent. Sophie now felt like she had been betrayed, but, also like she had earned a friend along the way.
~~~Her mother ushered them quickly inside and she shut the door right as they stepped in. "I'm sorry about the speed, but your father and.....her....leave the house around this time every afternoon." her mother said in obvious pain. Sophie then noticed that her mother and her looked so much alike. Other than her mom's blue eyes, they had the same face, the same white-blond hair, and they both had the very same stubborn habbits.
~~~"Sophie, I think you and your mom ought to be alone, I'll be in the lobby, OK?"
~~~Sophie frowned even more than she already was, but had to agree, "OK, I'll see you in a little bit. Thank you."
~~~"Sure. See you soon." Robbie said gently as he left and closed the door behind him.
~~~ "Mom, I'm so sorry! I can't believe how long this went on, and I bought into dad's ways, I was so stupid! I am so sorry... I could have stopped this, if I could have seen through him all these years and realized you weren't the enemy!"Sophie sputtered out on the boarderline of tears.
~~~ "Honey! No, it's NOT your fault. Your father didn't want you to see what was happening because he thought after you did, you wouldn't want to talk to him ever again! The reason he just pushed you away, and denied you and Kaylee, is because he didn't want to feel hurt when you rejected HIM. He was scared, just like you."
~~~ "Why? I came in not wanting to critisize him, I just wanted to talk to him and ask the simple question, WHY?! And mom, why are you protecting him? Aren't you hurt at all by this? You are right across from THEM for heaven's sake!! And this doesn't even scathe you?!"
~~~ "Your father and I decided this a LONG time ago! I have brooded over this for years! It helped me, and I realize you just found out, and your pain is new, but it will be OKAY." Her mother said as she wrapped Sophie in a hug. It comforted Sophie more than anything in the world. It was just good to have her mother for this, on her side. To know that whatever happened, her mom would be here, for her.
~~~ After talking a few things over, Sophie told her mom the story of her getting here, and that she was going to return later tonight. Her mother told her that both her and her father would come back in a month or so. Her mother also said there were a few issues to figure out when they got back. Sophie questioned, but her mother said they would tell her later. They said there goodbye's and for the first time, Sophie realized she loved her mother.
~~~ When she reached the lobby, Robbie stood up and checked for signs of hurt, or happiness, something. Sophie just went up and kissed him.
~~~He seemed surprised at her attitude so he broke the kiss and said, "What happened? Did it go OK?"
~~~Sophie just smiled and said, "Well, what do you think?" Then they both smiled and walked out of the hotel. It was finally over. The pain, hurt, and confusion. Now, they could go home.
