“A…duet…with …you?” I repeated slowly. The words made no sense.
“For the festival,” Ian said looking confused and slightly hurt. Then it fit. Oh!
“Of course!” I confirmed before my words were thought out. Too late.
“Perfect. We’ll need to schedule practice time. How’s this Thursday at five?”
“Fine with me”
Ian smiled the most dazzling smile. It all but knocked me off of my feet.

“Shall we?” he asked.
“Let’s,” I confirmed, raising my violin to my shoulder. I accidentally met his glare. We held it for a moment, but I turned away, reddening. His eyes were blue.
Ian counted us off. The piece started gently and dolce, but gradually grew dramatic. His part skimmed in range under my sob. The music came naturally to my fingers. I barely looked at the notes.
Our parts were different, but they flowed together flawlessly. Together, they were one song.
