(Please, this is NOT suppose to be anything like Twilight... ) and also, I would like to apologize at how sappy it is. It's my first real romance so...it was a bit hard writing. haha but still, hope you enjoy all the same.

The wind howled softly as it filtered through the trees leaves, one leaf, a small crisp golden one, popped itself away from the tree and fluttered helplessly towards the coast. It spiraled and spun out of control, as if performing a careless dance. It drifted along the ocean’s edge, as if teasing the large body of water, until it landed softly on a woman’s shoulder.
She jumped, startled by the sudden visitor. She smiled meekly as she picked the leaf off her shoulder. She looked at the small leaf, as it struggled to be free of her grip and back into the wind. She sighed as she released it and watched it flutter down the beach.
To anyone else, she seemed to just be standing on the beach, enjoying the weather looking at the beautiful ocean view. But that was not the real reason she was on the beach this day.
She sighed as she wrapped her jacket closer to her, staring at a spot on the ground not even five feet from where she stood. To others, this spot of sand would not seem any different from the rest, but to her it was.
Had it only been fifteen years ago to this exact day? She took a deep shuttering breath as she shut her eyes. Yes, she could still remember every detail, as if it were burned into her memory for life. She felt a small hot tear slip between her shut eyelids; she quickly brushed it away with her sleeve.
To her, this spot on the beach was sacred. To her, this spot on the beach was a grave.
She shuddered helplessly as she fell to her knees; her head bowed hiding the tears that refused to stay. She was the only person in this town who knew what happened here at this spot fifteen years ago. The only one who knew of the murder…the betrayal…the love.
She felt the breath leave her chest and she quickly bent over, gasping for air. It was here at this exact spot she had lost the love of her life. Here it was, the place she had watched him die. She quickly covered her eyes with her hands, as if that would make the tears and memories go away.
She looked up; her eyes glistened with tears. She could never tell anyone of this place, of the love she lost. Never. She had to endure this alone, with a plastic smile to hide her woe. Because he had not been human…no. No…
She looked up to the sky, at the pinks and oranges of the sunset. She could never tell…that she loved a vampire.

~Fifteen Years Ago~

“Ally!” before she had any time to turn around she was being crushed by two strong arms. She grunted uncomfortably and laughed. “Oh, my bad.” He said stepping back. Ally laughed as she rubbed her arms. Alex grinned down at her, his fang almost visible.
“It’s fine,” Ally said grinning. It was hard for her to believe that today was their seven-month anniversary of being together, the same night as prom. It was still harder for her to believe that Alex, the most adored boy in school, even wanted to be with her. The weird little Goth girl.
Alex grinned as he bent down and kissed her. Ally sighed happily as she leaned in towards him, her one big no-no. Alex quickly pulled back, his eyes screwed shut, “Alex!” Ally said worriedly, “I’m…I’m sorry…”
“Its alright…” he said catching his breath. Ally frowned; it was hard for her to see him struggle like this. If she thought it was hard for a mortal to love a vampire she had no idea what it was like the other way around. Her blood always tempting him, always on the back of his mind that she was food…
“Hey!” a peppy voice chirped. Ally smiled as Jena approached them, another vampire. Jena flipped her long black hair, the scent of Hawaiian flowers hitting Ally full in the face, “Happy seven-month anniversary you two!” she said smiling. Ally blushed and looked at the ground. “You two are going to prom aren’t you?” she asked tilting her head curiously to one side.
As Ally nodded Alex replied, “Yes.”
“Oh good!” Jena said happily, “We can do a double date then. I am going with Ian.”
“The football player?” Alex asked raising a brow.
Jena nodded happily, “Yeah, he just asked me. This means I need to get a dress now…but I am still completely excited.”
“I…I never saw Ian being your type though.” Ally said eyeing her heavy eyeliner, short torn skirt, fishnets, and giant boots.
Jena grinned mischievously, “That’s what you told me when you and Alex first started dating. And you’ve been dating seven months now so I don’t want to hear it.”
Ally opened her mouth, her face flushed and she quickly shut her mouth again. Jena laughed, a laugh that reminded Ally of small bells.
“Let me guess, you’re all talking about prom?” the three heads turned to see the new comer, Chloe, also a vampire. Ally smiled to herself, it was odd, she had been going to school with these three for almost two years now, and had always known they were special. She just hadn’t realized how special.
All three were beautiful, with pale perfect skin and large golden eyes. Chloe was the tall skinny one, with full red lips and long flowing auburn hair. And she always looked like something stepped out of a magazine. Jena was the smallest of the three, with pixie features and short-layered black hair.
Alex was tall and slim, but had broad shoulders and was well built. He had jet black hair that came to his shoulders, underneath was a blood red. He had beautiful rounded features; he looked like a movie star. All the girls in school knew his name, and almost all of them head over heels for him. But here he was, standing next to the quiet Goth girl, his hand firmly clasped in hers.
And even though all three were vampires, Alex was different. Long ago, he was poisoned by a vampire cult, a poison that made him crave human blood. He didn’t like to talk about it, and the only way Ally knew was because Jena accidentally mentioned it when talking to Chloe. Ally wasn’t sure on details, but it sounded as if Alex escaped from the cult went on a rampage. Killing all in sight… Ally shuddered at the mere thought of it. But then he found Jena and Chloe, and they both helped to train him in being a veggie vampire; a vampire that only fed on animal blood. Ever since then Alex never drank another drop of human blood, but the poison still ran thick in his veins, and the risk of it happening again was great…
“Of course,” Jena replied smiling jolting Ally out of her thoughts.
“Well,” Chloe said sighing, “I hope you all have fun without me because I don’t have a date.” Ally sighed as Alex rolled his eyes.
“Chloe… you probably don’t have a date because you give everyone the cold shoulder.” Jena replied the only one not afraid to say what needed to be said.
“I do not!” Chloe cried her face consorting to one of anger. Jena rolled her eyes. Chloe snorted, “Fine, don’t believe me. I don’t care. I didn’t want to go anyway…”
“Chloe, why don’t you just come with us?” Ally asked, “You can just hang out…”
“While you guys all dance with your dates?” Chloe snapped, “No I don’t want to be the third wheel. I’d rather stay home and stare at the TV screen all day.” All three of them gave an exasperated sigh. Just then the bell rang. All three looked up, before looking at one another again.
“I best be going,” Jena said, “Don’t want to miss physics…” she laughed, “Even though I have already completed it several hundred times now…” as she slid down the hall Chloe sniffed.
“I should go to, my class is at the other end of the school.” She replied, “I will see you guys later,” then she too disappeared into the sea of students.
Alex sighed before looking down at Ally, “Shall I escort you to your class?”
Ally laughed, “You may, sir,” she said very sophisticated as she held her arm out for Alex to take. Alex grinned as he hooked his arm around hers and they walked down the hall.
Despite they had been dating for seven months, none of the other students still seemed to not believe it. As they walked down the hall they all turned their heads to stare after them threatening to break their necks. “Take a picture…” Alex hissed under his breath, “It lasts longer…”
“Alex!” Ally said elbowing him in the rib.
“Ouch,” Alex said grinning teasingly down at her. Ally rolled her eyes as they stopped in front of her next class. Alex smiled, his hand still clasped firmly in hers. “See you at lunch?” he replied in a soft tone. Ally nodded as he leaned down and kissed the top of her head. He smiled, before turning and leaving.
Ally watched him until he disappeared around the corner, before walking in class just before the late bell rang. As Ally walked through the door it instantly fell silent. Ally felt her heart stop in her chest. This was her least favorite class, because she shared it with Ashley Baker.
Ashley was your typical school brat. Tall, blonde, curvy, and the meanest girl in school. And Ashley had her eyes on Alex. Ashley hardly looked up from her seat, as Ally slipped into the seat the furthest from her.
Class proceeded as normal. Ally fidgeted uncomfortably feeling Ashley’s large blue eyes drilling into the back of her head. Ally tapped her fingers nervously on the desk, waiting for the class to get out. Finally the bell tolled and Ally peeled out as fast as she could manage and sighed relieved when Ashley didn’t try to catch her.
The next two classes went along smoothly, if somewhat boring, until the bell rang for lunch. Ally happily walked into the lunchroom, ignoring the stares when Alex slung his arm over her shoulder, “Hello, there,” he said smiling, “How has your day been?”
“Boring I guess,” Ally replied shrugging. Alex smiled as they moved to a lunch table, waiting for Chloe and Jena to arrive. They were both silent a moment, listening to the murmurs of the students around them when Ally finally said, “Alex…remember what we were talking about last night?”
Alex stiffened, and pretended to be suddenly very interested in the markings on the table, “Yes…” he said in a distant tone.
Ally sighed, “Alex…I really want to do it…”
“No,” Alex snarled, “I’m not doing that to you…”
“Why not?” she snapped. He slowly looked up at her, she could see he was getting annoyed but she honestly didn’t care, “Alex,” she said in a gentler tone, “It’s my senior year of high school. I’m not getting any younger.” I whispered, “And…I want to be with you. Always…”
“Ally…” Alex said even softer as he leaned in, “I’m not dooming you to eternal life…”
“Then what are you going to do? Watch me grow old and die?” she replied feeling her throat constrict. Alex moaned as he placed his face in his hands. Ally watched him a moment, waiting for him to speak but he never did, “Alex…” Ally said, “Alex, I want to do it. Tonight.”
“Ally…” Alex said softly, “If you really want to be turned, you can. I can’t stop you. But I’m not doing it…”
“Alex, but I want you to…”
“What do I do when I taste your blood?” he whispered, “Ally, I won’t be able to stop myself. I would kill you, Ally.” Ally was silent as they stared eye to eye.
Finally Ally sighed, “Fine. I won’t make you.” She replied, “But I will become what you are, Alex. By tonight.” Alex groaned as he set his forehead against the table, and slowly nodded.
“Why are you so upset about it!” Ally snapped, “I thought you would be happy. We can be together forever…”
“But what happens fifteen years from now?” he whispered, “When you realize you can never have a proper family?” Ally opened her mouth to reply when suddenly Jena slid into the seat next to her. Ally quickly shut her mouth and looked at the table.
“Um…was I interrupting something?”
Just as Ally said, “Yes,” Alex said, “No.”
Jena frowned as she looked at Ally, “You still talking about that one subject?” Alex flicked his head up, a dark scowl on his face as he glared at Jena.
“You already told Jena this fool brained idea!” he hissed
“Yes!” Ally snapped, “I did!”
“Please, don’t fight,” Jena begged looking from one to the other. Ally and Alex glared at one another for a moment, before casting their eyes to the floor. Jena sighed irritatingly but was silent.
The lunch period continued on this way, with small talk between the three but none of them really talking to one another. Jena continually tried to make them talk but they refused. Finally the bell rang and they quickly dispersed without another word.
Ally sat through the remainder of her classes, a dark pout on her face. And when the bell rang for school to be out she quickly gathered her things and almost ran for her car hoping not to bump into Alex.
As she got to her car, and slid into the drivers seat there was a soft tap on her window. Ally shut her eyes, took a deep breath, before turning her head and looking out the window at Alex.
“Can I come in?” he asked. Ally waited a moment, before nodding and unlocking the door. Alex walked around and slipped into the passenger seat. Both were quiet for a moment, “Ally…” Alex finally said turning in his seat and looking at her, “I don’t want to fight.”
Ally looked out the windshield, her hands clutched firmly on the steering wheel. Alex sighed, “Ally…I have been thinking about this whole situation…” he whispered, “And…I want you to turn.”
Ally blinked, before slowly looking at him, “You…do?” she replied raising a brow. Alex nodded.
“Yes,” he replied nodding his head, “Of course I do. After being with you…I can’t live without you.” He said. Ally felt her throat tighten, and her eyes grow wet. She cursed at herself as he leaned forward his nose inches from hers, “Which is why…” he said, “I want to ask you something…”
“What?” Ally whispered.
Alex smiled. Ally felt her breathing grow more rapid, she felt as if she were boiling. Alex reached out and took her hand, and squeezed it gently, “Ally…” he said softly staring deeply into her large brown eyes, “Will you marry me?”
Ally felt as if someone dropped a hot coal down her throat as large hot tears rolled down her cheek. Alex smiled as he leaned forward and kissed her tears away, “You don’t have to answer now,” he whispered, “I am asking a lot of you. You can take your time and…”
“Yes!” she shouted crying, “of course I will!” she then turned her head and pressed her lips against his. Alex stiffened, a sure sign of trouble but Ally had forgotten herself. She wrapped her arms around his neck and sighed deeply…
“Ally!” he shouted horrified. Ally was quickly yanked back into reality as she quickly pulled away. Alex then opened the car door and quickly jumped out slamming the door shut. Ally held her breath as he stood outside, bent over with his hand cupped over his mouth.
Ally quickly got out of the car and went to his side, “Alex. I’m so sorry.”
“It’s fine,” he replied as he stood up straight. He gave her a shaky smile, “We knew being together would be dangerous.” He placed his hand on her shoulder, “But…” he replied still sounding a little out of breath, “Once your turned…we won’t have this problem anymore.” Ally grinned, already excited.
Alex smiled back, “Alright, I will let you go home.” He said, “I will pick you up around six.” Ally nodded as he leaned down and kissed her cheek. Ally sighed, she knew tonight was going to be one to remember. Alex pulled away, his hand running through her hair, before he turned to leave
Ally stood there, smiling widely, thinking of her future.

“Ally!” her mom shouted from downstairs, “He’s here!” Ally quickly took one last look at herself in the mirror. She frowned; she wished she looked a bit more fancy. The only dress she had was a simple black spaghetti strap dress with a large flower on the left shoulder. Her mom helped her pull her black straight hair into a fancy bun with a flower fixed into it to match the one on her dress.
Ally took a deep breath, before leaving her room. As she stepped out, she instantly saw Alex at the bottom of the stairs. She felt as if someone had hit her in the gut when she saw how nice he looked in his tuxedo. Alex looked up, his face turned awestruck and his eyes widening as she made her way down the stairs.
She blushed, not noticing where she was stepping and twisted her ankle. “Ahh!” she shouted as she fell down the stairs. But before she hit the ground Alex was next to her and he caught her, a wide grin on his face.
“Good catch!” Ally’s father applauded at the bottom of the stairs. Ally blushed embarrassed as Alex helped her get to her feet. As they walked down the stairs together Ally’s mother suddenly appeared, the camera in her hands.
“Mom!” Ally groaned embarrassed, “Not now…”
Alex laughed, “Ally its fine.” He replied grinning. Ally grunted irritated as her mom ushered her and Alex next to the wall.
“Ally…please smile,” her mom begged. Alex growled as he elbowed her.
“Ouch!” Ally said staring up at Alex and sticking her tongue at him, “Fine I’ll smile!” Ally wasn’t sure how long she stood there, her mom flashing pictures and cooing at her until her father said.
“You’re going to make them late!”
Her mom quickly snapped another picture, “Fine!” She said, “Curse me for wanting pictures of my daughters prom!” Ally rolled her eyes as she quickly bade her parents good night and walked out of the house with Alex.
The two quickly got into Alex’s car, waving to Ally’s parents as they drove off. They were quite awhile, the only light coming from the lights outside. After a moment Alex said, “Why don’t you open that glove department?” Ally raised a brow as she did as she was told.
As she lifted the lever, the small door popped open and out tumbled a small velvet box. Ally blinked, and looked up at Alex to see him grinning, “It’s not the ring if that is what you were thinking.” He said grinning evilly. Ally rolled her eyes as she lifted the box and opened it to reveal a small silver bracelet embedded with small crystals. Ally gasped, her hand fluttering to her mouth. Alex smiled, “I thought a ring would be a bit to obvious,” he replied, “So I got you the next best thing for now.”
“Alex…” she said feeling herself getting all chocked up again, “I love it!” she cried.
“I thought you would… look at the charm on it.” He said as he turned into the school parking lot. Ally lifted the bracelet out of the box, her hands trembling, as she looked at the small charm. She nearly laughed when she saw it was a small fang. As Alex parked he leaned towards her and took the bracelet from her. Ally held out her hand as he clasped it around her wrist.
“Alex,” Ally said softly, “I love you.” She whispered. Alex smiled as he took her chin gently in his hand.
“Your welcome,” he whispered. Then he kissed her swiftly before climbing out of the car. He opened the car door for her, and helped her out before leading her into the school. Ally hardly recognized the gym as they stepped into it. It was full of bright lights, colorful curtains hung around the walls, a small band was up on the stage, playing music as the kids mingled and danced.
Ally and Alex quickly found Jena and Ian. The four of them talked and laughed occasionally breaking apart for a dance before coming back together again. Ally had never felt happier. The night progressed smoothly, all of them enjoying themselves.
“Hey, I have to go to the restroom real fast,” Ally whispered to Alex, “I will be just a moment.” She swiftly kissed him before swerving her way through the gym. Little was she aware that she was being followed.
Ally slipped into the bathroom, it was empty. She went to the mirror and looked at her reflection. Just as she had thought already her hair was starting to fall out. She sighed as she began to go to work at it to fix it. When the door opened Ally quickly spun around and saw it was Ashley. Ally felt as if her heart fell down into her stomach as she quickly turned back towards the mirror.
Ashley was quiet. Ally watched her from the corner of the mirror as the girl went and stood near the corner, her arms crossed over her chest. Ally furrowed her brows as she tried to keep her concentration on fixing her hair. But after a few seconds Ally spun around, “What?” she snapped, “Why are you staring at me?”
Ashley was silent a moment, before saying in an angry voice, “You took him…”
Ally frowned, “Ashley…are you seriously…” but before Ally could say anything Ashley jumped forward, grabbed a fist full of her hair, and slammed her face into the sink. Ally screamed out as she saw a burst of stars before crumbling to the floor gasping for breath trying not to pass out. Before Ally had anytime to react to the situation Ashley was before her, her small hands curled into fists.
Ally screamed out as Ashley swung her curled fist at her smacking her across the side of the head. Ally fell to her side, tears pouring down her face as she struggled to get up and moved toward the door. Ashley hissed like some possessed demon as she took another step towards Ally. Then suddenly the door opened.
Both Ashley and Ally looked up to see Alex slip into the bathroom. Ally could already tell by the look on his face that he had heard her screaming. He stopped, his eyes like dark pools of fire as he glanced from Ally to Ashley. Ally felt her heart freeze when she saw him hiss, “Alex, no!” Ally shouted, but it was already to late.
Alex barred his fangs, as he pounced forward towards the shocked Ashley. Alex then knocked the girl to the ground, Ashley’s mouth was open as if she were trying to scream but nothing was coming out. “Alex!” Ally cried as she tried to pick herself up.
Then she heard a sickening crunch sound and the sound of drinking. “Alex! Stop!” Ally shouted as she got to her feet and spun around to see Alex crouched on the ground, his mouth pressed against Ashley’s neck. All Ally had to do was look and she could see that Ashley was dead, her neck snapped viscously.
Ally quickly grabbed Alex by the shoulder, unafraid as she tried to pull him away. Alex gave a low hiss as he dropped Ashley’s body and spun around on Ally. Ally gave a small yelp as he stood up and grabbed her shoulders, “Alex…” she said looking fearfully up into his bloody face.
At the sound of her voice Alex froze, his face in a sneer, before slowly relaxing. He blinked as he looked at Ally, before spinning around and staring at Ashley’s corpse. For a moment, Ally was unsure of how he was feeling. He only stood there, his eyes wide, his jaw slightly agape as he stared at the body.
Then to sudden for Ally, Alex fell to his knees his face in his hands. Ally stood there a moment, before slowly bending down, “Alex…its…alright…”
“No its not!” he snapped not looking up. He then roughly pushed her away, “Stay away from me!” he quickly jumped to his feet, before running out the door in a speed to fast for mortal eyes.
Ally sat there still a moment, in the silent bathroom as a pool of Ashley’s blood formed on the floor. Ally then slowly stood up, surprised at how calm and aware of things she felt, before walking out of the bathroom in search of Jena.
* * *
Alex stumbled down the dark streets using his coat sleeve to vigorously clear away the blood on his face. Once he could not longer feel the hot sticky blood, he snarled and threw the jacket into an alley. Already he could feel the poison inside him taking control, bringing the monster in him out.
“No…” Alex groaned as he hugged himself as if that would keep the poison at bay. But he knew his attempts were futile now. The poison had been fed, and it wanted more. Already he was imagining the next kill, it would be certainly easier here then it had been at the prom…
And as if luck would have it, Alex saw a man wearing a long coat, a small hat on his head, coming right towards him. Alex felt his mouth fill with saliva, the wind sending the mans scent to Alex’s nose. Alex felt his entire body shudder as he forced the demon within to hold back, but it wasn’t going to, it had its taste of blood, it wanted more.
Alex then snarled hungrily, and leapt forward before the man had even time to blink.
* * *
Ally was also surprised at how calm Jena was after she had told her what had happened. It had taken Ally awhile to find Jena, and even longer to pry Ian away from her side so she could speak with her alone.
“It’s ok,” Jena said, “We will find him before they do…”
“They?” Ally asked. The two girls were standing outside the school, Ally shivered with cold but Jena seemed perfectly content.
“Yes,” Jena said glumly, “The people who poisoned him.” Ally felt her eyes widen as Jena sighed, “They have been searching for him ever since he escaped from them. That’s why we can never stay at more place for more then a year or two.” Jena then took Ally’s hand and dragged her down towards the parking lot, “But if Alex has killed…they could be here soon.”
“What? Why?” Ally said.
“Because of the poison!” Jena said, “Even though Alex isn’t here I can smell him. That poison lets forth an odd odor once it’s been put into action.” Ally felt herself shuddering, and it was no longer from cold.
“What-what will happen if they find him,” Ally replied afraid for the answer. Jena didn’t reply at first, only helped Ally into her car and then slipped into the drivers seat. It wasn’t before Jena started the car and pulled out of the parking lot that Jena replied.
“The poison,” she began, “was actually meant to be a cure.” She whispered as she drove down the silent streets, “A cure to vampirism.” Jena gave Ally a side ways look noticing Ally’s confused look, “I know we have always made them sound…bad.” Jena replied ashamed, “But honestly…they are not. They are trying to cure us. And they get those vampires that go out of control.”
“You mean, like Alex just did?” Ally whispered. Jena nodded stiffly. Ally knew there was something she wasn’t spilling, “Jena, what do they do to the vampires out of control?” Ally asked. Jena frowned.
“Get my phone.” Jena suddenly said.
“What?” Ally asked raising a brow.
“My phone,” Jena said pointing to a bag in the back, “Grab it I need to call Chloe.”
“Jena! Answer my…”
“Ally now!” Jena shouted. Ally blinked, startled by Jena’s sudden rage as she reached back and grabbed the bag.
Jena didn’t even wait. She snagged the bag from Ally, opened it, and shoved her hand in searching for the phone.
Ally leaned back in her seat as she watched the car rapidly incline on speed. Jena finally found her phone, threw her bag into the back, and dialed Chloe’s number.
“Chloe?” Jena said sounded worried. Ally was silent as she watched Jena talk, “Chloe, we are at code red here.” There was silence, “Yeah…yeah I know. I can smell it too, he must of killed again.
Ally felt her mouth go dry. Again?”
Ally placed her hands in her face and whispered, “Oh, Alex…”
* * *
Alex stepped out of the house, hot sticky blood staining his shirt. He stumbled down the steps, hunger threatening to tear him apart.
He shuddered as he stepped down onto the street breathing in smelling for more prey.
“Well, well. It’s about time I found you….” Alex spun around, his fangs barred as he faced a small girl. It took Alex a moment to recognize the frail body, large gold eyes, and pale blonde hair.
“Alice!” Alex hissed through clenched teeth. The small vampire smiled, her fangs glistening in the lamplight.
“You know….” She replied her hands in her coat pockets, “If you hadn’t of ran away we could have helped you get rid of the poison…”
“You’re the ones who infected me in t he first place!” he hissed.
Alice sighed, “Do you honestly think we meant to?” she replied, “You agreed to help us, Alex. You knew the risks…”
“I didn’t think you would turn me into a monster!” he shouted. Alice sighed as she opened her mouth to say more, but Alex was furious, feeding the beast within. He growled loudly as he leaped forward and knocked the small girl into the ground. Alice shouted out horribly as she stumbled and hit her head on the curb.
Alex hissed, fire burning in his eyes as he opened his jaw to reveal his fangs. Alice snarled as she placed her feet against his chest and shoved him back. Alex growled as he stumbled back. Alice quickly pounced up, and whipped a gun from her pocket, “Alex…” she snapped, “Don’t make me shoot you!” she shouted the gun aimed at his chest, “I want to help you get out of this, Alex…”
There was a beat of silent, as blood trickled from Alice’s hairline down her cheek. Alice froze seeing the glazed look in Alex’s eyes. “Stay back!” Alice shouted seeing the blood lust in his eyes. Alex snarled, sounding more animal then human as he lunged at Alice.
“Alex! No!” Alice blinked as suddenly some other girl vampire leaped in front of her. Alex collided into the girl who fell into Alice. All three went tumbling to the ground, Alex on top of girl.
Alice groaned as she slowly picked herself up, she looked up the street, and there was her gun. She looked over her shoulder; Alex was bent over the other girl, feeding hungrily from her throat. Alice grinded her teeth, the poison was to strong…
Alice then heard the squealing of tires. Alice cried out as she quickly rolled out of the street as a car flew around the corner and came to a loud stop. Alice snarled, what else could go wrong.
* * *
Jena froze as she stopped the car, her eyes on the gruesome scene in front of them. “Chloe…” Jena whispered. Ally felt her chest stiffen, seeing Alex hunched over Chloe’s dead body. Jena snarled, “Ally, I shouldn’t have brought you here.” She snarled, “Get out of here.”
“But, Jena, let me…”
“Now!” Jena snapped as she jumped out of the car. Ally sat in the car, her hand glued to the car door handle, as she watched.
* * *
Alex grunted as someone knocked him over. He rolled across the ground and jumped back up to stare face to face with Jena, “Alex!” Jena shouted, “You need to stop!” Alex hissed staring Jena who was between him and his meal.
Jena slowly stepped forward, her hands held up, “Alex, this isn’t you and you know it.” Jena whispered, “I know you are really in there.” She replied even softer.
Alex stood there, frozen solid, the inner battle within him taking place. The beast sought to hold him back, keep him from winning. Alex groaned as he shut his eyes, fighting for survival…
Suddenly a salty ocean breeze caught his nose, bringing him another scent also. His eyes flashed open, as he peered around Jena’s shoulder to see his new prey. Ally.
Jena looked over her shoulder and saw Ally standing outside the car. Jena felt her face drain of blood as she shouted, “Ally, You idiot! Run!” Ally stood there, staring dumbly at Jena. “Ally! Listen to me you moron! Run!”
Alex hissed a low satisfied hiss, before trying to bolt around Jena towards Ally. Jena cried out as she tackled Alex grabbing him by the writs and pinning him to the ground.
Ally stood there, staring stupidly, before running down the street her high heels clacking loudly. Jena and Alex snarled at one another, one struggling to pin the other down. Then with a vicious growl Alex grabbed Jena’s wrists also and flung her off him. Jena grunted as she rolled across the street before jumping back onto her feet.
Alex was also on his feet now, crouched down, his fangs bared, looking like some deathly creature. “Alex, please!” Jena shouted. Alex only leaped forward and grabbed her roughly by the neck. Jena cried out fearfully as she stared into his crazed filled eyes. He snarled as he threw her into the ground. Jena gasped loudly feeling the air knocked out of her as Alex leaned over, snarling and hissing.
Jena felt as if her heart was going to blow, she took a shuddering breath, before her world caved into blackness.
* * *
Ally stumbled, confused and worried, toward the beach. She had taken her shoes off, holding them to her as she ran. She wasn’t sure why she was running toward the beach, just that she felt drawn to run there.
She sighed as she ran down onto the beach, the sand squishing between her toes as she continued running. She ran until all of the pent up worry and anger died down making her instantly tired. She sighed as she flopped onto the sand dropping her shoes next to her.
There was another gust of wind. Ally shuddered as she hugged herself, staring off into the ocean. She felt tears spring to her eyes. Oh, Alex she thought to herself I’m sorry…
* * *
Alex froze, that sweet smell reaching his nose once again. He shuddered delighted as leaped off of Jena and ran toward the smell. Alice watched as Alex ran away, before groaning angrily. She ran toward her gun, scooped it up, before chasing after the crazed vampire.
* * *
Ally quickly brushed her tears away. Stop it! She ordered herself stiffly Jena will take care of it; she has done it before… Ally took a deep shuddering breath. But what about Chloe? Ally felt her throat burning as she placed her face in her hands. Chloe…stubborn, sweet, Chloe. Dead. Ally shook with her sobs, this night was supposed to be the perfect night; it was quickly switched to the most terrifying night of her life.
Not terrified for herself, but for Alex, for Jena. Ally quickly rubbed her eyes, smearing her mascara down her face. There was the soft sound of sand crunching from behind her. Ally turned her head and almost swallowed her own tongue. There stood Alex, cold, stiff, blood covering him from head to foot.
Ally stood up, trying to control her trembling, “A-Alex?” she whispered. He stood there motionless, his eyes glued to her as if staring at a delicious looking meal. Ally slowly stood up, feeling her throat go dry, “Alex…it’s Ally.” She said hopefully, as if just hearing her say his name would make him better. They stood silent and motionless, both staring at the other, until a soft breeze blew past Ally.
Alex roared as he leaped toward her, his hands grabbing her shoulders roughly. Ally froze; she knew she should be scared, staring up into his bloody face. But she wasn’t. She felt at ease, she felt as if the whole weight of the world had been taken off her. “Alex…” she murmured softly as he growled, “Alex…this isn’t you.” She whispered placing her hand on his cheek.
He froze, his eyes slowly widening as he stared down at her. Ally swallowed hard, it was working. She wrapped her arms around his neck; he stared down at her blankly, not budging. The moon climbed over the ocean, casting them in pale moonlight. One was dressed in black, tears staining her cheeks; the other sparkling in crimson blood.
They stood still, the ocean crashing softly behind them, the air held still as if holding its breath. Ally leaned into him, the front of her dress now stained in blood. “Alex, I love you.” She whispered. She then leaned forward and pressed her lips against his. Alex shuddered, his hands digging into her shoulders. Ally shut her eyes as she held herself still.
"A-Ally?" Alex said sounding half dazed. Ally almost laughed, he was back!
"Yes!" Ally whispered, "Yes!" she said placing her hands against the sides of his face.
That’s when it happened. It happened all to fast for Ally. The first thing she knew she was standing there, smiling up at Alex, her fiancé, her one true love. The next thing she knew there was a wicked snapping sound. Alex's eyes widened, as he fell to his knees. Ally blinked, before looking down and seeing Alice, the gun held up, smoke slowly trailing away from the barrel of the gun.
Ally looked down, and saw Alex laying on the ground, a pool of his own blood staining the white sand. Ally shuddered, before falling to the sand next to him, already sobbing, "Alex!" she cried placing her hand on his cheek. He shuddered madly, blood pumping out of his back with every heart beat.
Ally looked up at Alice, tears glistening her eyes, "Why did you do that!" she shouted her voice cracking, "Why!" she shouted as she looked down at Alex, the tears on her face dripping off her chin and landing softly on his neck. Ally held his hand, her grip like iron, as he breathed in gasping breaths.
Alice was silent as she slowly lowered her gun, watching Ally with a deep frown on her face.
"Alex..." Ally whispered, "You can't leave me." she said nearly choking on her own words. She brought his hand to her mouth and kissed his finger tips, "You're suppose to stay with me..." she said almost wailing, "Forever and ever."
Alex slowly turned his gaze toward her. Ally could tell he was trying to mask the pain he was feeling. He shuddered painfully gasping loudly, "Alex!" Ally cried clutching to his hand as if that would keep him there with her.
He took a few shuddering breaths, before whispered, "Love you, babe." He tried to smile, but it turned into a painful frown. He then gasped as he jolted again groaning.
"Alex! No, Alex!" Ally shouted frantically clutching his hand. After a moment Alex froze, before falling limp. Ally sat there her eyes wide, still holding his limp hand. Before she broke down into tears and laid down next to him, her eyes blurry from tears, "Alex!" she said her voice a high pitch wail, "Come back!"
Alice stood by silently, and slowly let the gun fall from her hands.
A large gust of wind sent small sparkling droplets of water over the scene, showering them all in salty ocean. Ally's cried turned to uncontrolled wails.
But no matter how long she cried, how tightly she clutched his hand, Alex Peters was dead.
~Present Day~
Ally uncovered her eyes as she looked up, the vision slowly fading from her eyes, but it always lingered, ready to jump back into action when she least expected it. Ally felt her chest shudder as she tried to calm herself down, brushing her tears away once more.
It was dark out now, small stars were beginning to light up the sky, and the moon was beginning her travels into the sky. Ally slowly stood up, shuddering as the memory slowly slipped away, but not entirely, it was hovering in the back of her mind, ready to jump back at any moments notice.
“Ally.” Ally froze, hearing a familiar voice she hadn’t heard in fifteen years. Ally clutched the front of her coat as she slowly spun around to face a small vampire girl. Alice. They were both silent, staring at one another as if trying to really grasp the situation. It was Alice who broke the silence, “Ally,” she said, “I really am sorry…” Ally was silent. An ocean mist showered over them, and the waves crashed nosily on the beach.
“Alice, I can’t forgive you…”
“I am not asking for forgiveness,” Alice said, “I am just asking for you to understand.”
Again silence fell over them like a blanket. Ally took a shuddering sigh, before looking down at her wrist at a small bracelet. She frowned thoughtfully as she turned her arm a bit, a small metal fang glistening in the moonlight. Ally shut her eyes and sighed. And just as she expected, she could see him. His laugh, his smile, his eyes, his lips…
Ally fluttered her eyes open to see Alice staring intensively up at her. Ally sighed softly before looking at the small vampire with cold eyes, “I suppose…” she said softly, “That he would have wanted me to forgive you.” She whispered. She paused, before continuing, “But I can’t.” her voice cracked, “You killed him. And when you killed him, you killed me…”
Ally then quickly spun away and walked off the beach, leaving Alice standing there, staring after her with large golden eyes. Ally shuddered deep within herself as she stepped onto the street and walked down silently, clutching her jacket to her.
A warm breeze caught her hair, she sighed imagining it was Alex, running his fingers through her hair… Ally took a deep shuddering breath, as hot tears rolled down her cheeks. The street was silent, her heels clicked softly against the pavement. Ally shut her eyes a moment, sighing deeply, “Alex…” she said whispering his name. After she said it a draft of wind whistled past her ears, she almost believed it was Alex whispering to her. Ally shuddered gleefully as she wrapped her arms around herself, “Alex… I love you…” she whispered to the wind.
And almost in response the wind gave a soft sighing. And for the first time in a long time, Ally felt small warmth spread through her, true happiness. A small smile fluttered at the edge of her lips as she walked down the road, not sure where she was going and not quite caring either.
Ally Walker was never seen again…
