(If you have Excel in your computer then you can use this link (above) for the FREE Excel software so you can make super accurate sundial markings.)

If you have Excel in your computer and have clicked the above link then you will see the spreadsheet set to the latitude and longitude of the North Pole. Note the blue hour angles will all be exactly 15 degrees and these ARE the hour markings, for a sundial, at the North Pole (with a vertical, round, pipe type gnomen) because 360 degrees divided by 24 (hours) is 15 degrees. The gnomen always points to the North Star and has to be parallel to the earth's axis.

Now, change ONLY the BIG RED latitude and longitude numbers to YOUR latitude and longitude. Hit SAVE.

Now, your computer will compute, and print, the correct blue hour markings for a sundial at your particular location on earth. You will also get the angle for the gnomen and the offset from noon for your longitude because few live right in the center of a time zone.

Neat! Right? And it's all FREE!!!

John Hi Daniel,

I read your first book. It was GREAT! I even understood some of it which is amazing since I am hopelessly scientfically challenged! L:ike you, Philo T. Farnsworth, an early TV innovator, was also a fan of Einstein. His lifelong dream was to actually have a conversation with the famous theorist. A few year before his death, one of Farnsworth's friend (who had Einstein's personal phone number) facilitated a conversatioin between the two men. he phone call lasted over an hour, and Farnsworth was elated.
I am including a chapter on Farnsworth in my next book...
