A gentle song is heard outside,
Tapping on the roof above my bedroom,
Like the sound of many little feet,
I lay in bed, hearing the rain,

A sound from nature,
It makes me feel so calm,
Sharp but ginger,
One so soothing, it puts me to sleep,

The constant noise over the ceiling,
The puny sounds of dripping water,
Flowing down the streets at night,
No matter what, the rain could never be more pure,

I know it will stop,
It will eventually end,
But knowing it will come back someday,
I think to myself, I will hear its music once more.....
