"My lord!" A young boy draped in a hooded cape ran up to him, his hood flying off. He stopped in front of him and bowed. "There's no way to open the gates! Each solder has tried everything!"
"Didn't I say to wait for me, Karan?" He growled.
"You were taking too long, sir."
Mumbling angrily, the figure trotted towards the gate. A few men were trying to hoist grappling hooks up onto the gate but they always fell right back down at their feet. Some were trying to pick the lock but with no use. The bravest ones tried to climb the wall surrounding it but a pulsing shock would run though them as they got to the top.
"I said to wait," He told them, making most of them turn their heads towards him. "These are no ordinary gates, fools. You can't climb over them or pick the lock!"
"What do we do then?"
Out from under his cape, he took a jewel inlaid scepter and pointed its black crystal centerpiece towards the top of the gates. A cloud of black smoke wisped towards the gate, making it's luster dim as it wrapped around it like many snakes. He shifted the scepter again, tugging the gates like cargo. The smoke acted like a living fungus as it grew over every gold speck there was. The strong stone walls encasing it and the bars of the gate itself began to crack and crumble until the gates burst opened. The soldiers stood in awe, their lips almost to the ground.
"Well, I see we've learned our lesson," He said as he saw their shocked faces. "Now, onward to Altantsetseg!"
