Stretching first, peering ahead
At the path I’ve chosen.
Racing myself tonight.
My toughest opponent.
Un-cooperative stiff legs
Thud. Remind me of a cold train.
One....two....one....two
Brain searches for evasive rhythm
Commanding parts of body to work together
Sucking mouth dry as
The cracked adobe.
Stiff neck, side ache,
Waves of nausea.
Forgotten muscles awaken
Warming to the feeling.
Slow spread of blood pumping
Sending messages, points of energy.
In the groove now
One two, one two.
Working through disabling thoughts
Resolving own issues; free therapy.
Salty skin touched
By fingers of light breeze
Face is licked by fires' tongue
Yet cold to the touch.
Lungs’ screams of protest
Hands clenching, unclenching
heart pounding, onetwo,onetwo
SUCCESS!! I am alive.
