Half undressed this little waif heiress showed promise. The hopeless hip bringing/breaking bliss from upside-down could look and notice. From the magazines and movies, to the great 60s music scene, the socialites and gods were in love with this insecure and fragile thing.
Her eyes confess the listlessness of riches and the sin of beauty. She lay on her side, kissing her lines while a camera just missed the depth of her longing. From trust funds that at last could be spent to a strict allowance that couldn’t even impress her dearest friends.
From the makeup and clothes and the art and the scene (oh a star in the sky—the whole world at your feet!) to this faint little girl on this fey little stage with her drugs and her scars and her past like a most horrible dream: once again in a hospital dying.
But staring speechless, aghast, seeing this mess: there is magic in life; I’ve seen it, like a whisper, a breath…
