There's a portrait on a wall
And I wonder if it's mine,
Left shattered by a fall
Leaving shadows of the divine
Painted by a creator
But not to last for long,
Restored by a savior
But still there's something wrong
And I marvel at the colors
On the canvas of my soul,
And at how so many pieces
Can somehow leave this hole
I hold it by my mirror
But something's not the same,
And nothing's any clearer
Than inside this broken frame
Paint trails a tear-drop
That I cannot understand,
But the brush is but a blood-drop
From a scarred and holy hand
Thank you for redemption
To lock me in the ideal,
But I'm stuck with this reflection
That's more alive than real
Your art is realistic
But human eyes are weak,
Or maybe I'm too romantic
In the image that I seek
My life's impressionistic
And that may never change,
But help me remember the beauty
Trapped inside the broken frame
And I wonder if it's mine,
Left shattered by a fall
Leaving shadows of the divine
Painted by a creator
But not to last for long,
Restored by a savior
But still there's something wrong
And I marvel at the colors
On the canvas of my soul,
And at how so many pieces
Can somehow leave this hole
I hold it by my mirror
But something's not the same,
And nothing's any clearer
Than inside this broken frame
Paint trails a tear-drop
That I cannot understand,
But the brush is but a blood-drop
From a scarred and holy hand
Thank you for redemption
