I saw Wren today
didn't see Robin go,
or talk to him of all the things
he intimated of
when last I saw the snow.
When the shiny feathered coat
of that grayish champion of Now
shimmered briefly at me in autumn
morning light,
I knew that Robin had been killed,
and felt the turning of the page.
Well, come then Wren.
Walk us into winter,
introduce me to your friend the sun
who gives us all
something to long for.
