Hello
The greeting,
Blocks my way and though it is only off guard friendliness I think for a moment about not responding,
“Hi.” I reply,
The single syllable floating in the air behind the hesitant misstep of feet as we walk around each other. Leaving us both to wonder why we insist on daily greetings that leave nothing upon which to hang a
goodbye.
