Here I live
Where pieces of fluttering trees fall in the courtyard
That is made of concrete and wire.
A Mexican prison,
The guy from number 7 calls it.
And I am inside.
Fitzgerald and me, we, us two,
We're inside it, together.
We read, we write, we look at the dots on the ground
From those fluttering trees,
The black paint peeling-- It wants to come off.
I want it to, too.
But I don't. I want to paint.
Cover my cage with black that holds, that keeps
Fitzgerald and me, we, us two, inside,
Together.
