There is no such thing as silence.
Silence is too fragile;
one word,
one noise
could shatter it.
You are still breathing,
your heart is still beating.
If you are living,
there is no silence.
For worms are still wriggling, deep in the earth
and there are still stars in the sky.
If the wind still blows
through the leaves on the trees
and a car is speeding by,
and the waves keep crashing against the shore,
and the nightingale sings its sweet song,
and you are alone,
alone in the dark,
if you think that it's silent, you're wrong.
For there is someone out there…
someone just like you,
who is breathing and living
and thinks that it's silent, too.
