Milky orb hangs heavy in night sky,
Casting parallel beams of genesis light
Through arms of a hundred year old audience
Standing majestic, patiently waiting.
Polished toes rest on leather shoe tops,
Fluid movement across earth’s floor
cushioned with carpet of needles,
Comforting, softly crunching.
Smell of untouched earth, flowers
resting, fragrant heads drooping.
Mountain air laced with rain,
Forgotten staple, life sustaining.
Thin shades of flesh cover eyes,
Fingers lightly tracing contours of face,
Over chiseled features, cataloguing portrait,
Permanent, in hidden recess.
Emotion spills from eyes,
Dries in salty patches on cool cheeks.
Former neglected sinew, hearts begin to beat,
Fluttering as moths, fragile.
Beast of love awakens, raises head,
With effort moves its bulky body.
Two resign to love's life-long
ride, forever at its mercy.
