If I never love again never burn never soar never weep
at least I can expect there will be no letters no love missives
no flailing, gnashing testaments existing, insisting
that I may not forget I was so wrong
no breathless, hurried, rushing blushing gushing notes
to find later, out of of context as Aztec knickknacks
A comb in the couch cushions
to puzzle over: What was that about?
Alone at last at least thank God no poetry
No terrible poetry
No snapshot of the fall
at least I can expect there will be no letters no love missives
no flailing, gnashing testaments existing, insisting
that I may not forget I was so wrong
no breathless, hurried, rushing blushing gushing notes
to find later, out of of context as Aztec knickknacks
A comb in the couch cushions
to puzzle over: What was that about?
Alone at last at least thank God no poetry
No terrible poetry
No snapshot of the fall
