I used to enjoy kicking incompetent ass, but as I get older, it just tires me out. Just this afternoon, I concluded a three-week-long ass-kicking contest with the insurance company that claims to be on your side, and when it was over and I'd won, I didn't really feel triumphant, just totally exhausted.

I remain convinced I should never learn how to fire a gun, because today, if I had known how to use one, an old bitch in a small-town insurance office would have died. I'd have driven my crippled old Explorer to the next town over and blown that nasty lying crone to hell. I'd have ended up in the maximum-security prison where they house violent female felons in my state. Also on the front page of the the local paper, which is just as heinous a fate.
