he called the Continental Op
he was a fictional Private Eye
the operative bane of criminals

Our Continental Op (opinion)
should patrol our hemisphere
and rid us of the charlatans
who deal with mendacity and fear

There are liars on the left
there are liars on the right
those socialists, those neo-cons
they all say that they know best

I think it will take artists
to bring North and South together
to paint pictures and write words
to inspire all of us forever

So here's to a continental union
each nation's folks striving together
to turn away from hubris squalls
and to look for new and balmy weather
