"It will be all right," they say,
But I don't think it will.
Without the safety of his touch,
My whole world just stands still.

"I understand how you're feeling,"
But they can't even try.
Without the assurance in his voice,
I can only break down and cry.

"I am truly sorry," they sigh,
And perhaps this is sincere.
But I'm not sure how I'll survive
Without him standing near.

This wave of doubt and wonder
Washes over me with one swift blow.
"It will be all right," they say,
But how can they claim to know?
