When my father died, I put him in a cedar box and hid him in a closet, in a room of my heart. I hid him behind my everyday clothes, my snowboard, my basketball, Scrabble, my boxes and boxes of pictures, my books, my school work, my paper and pencil. I have never opened the box since and I don’t think I ever will, because if I don’t, maybe he is not gone, maybe he is still there. Maybe isn’t a good thing to know. But maybe is all I’ve got.
