I don't know if I would have purchased this book since I saw the movie however it was given to me as a gift. I have been pleasantly surprised by Michael Lewis' storytelling skills. He does an excellent job setting the foundation by starting out the beginning chapters on the history of the ofensive left tackle in the NFL and Tom Lemming's contribution to college football recruiting with his high school scouting reports. All this before getting to Michael Ohler's story which by itself is facinating. If you like the movie, I would recommend the book to set the facts straight. Not that the movie is false but like most movie screen plays, it did take some giant liberties. I admire the Touhys for living their faith and not only believing that it takes a village to raise a child but by acting out their faith. Hooray for them.
