liked it

I started out loving this book. I loved the strong beginning. Dorina is a Dhampir and is supposed to be ultra tough and easy to rage. However, by the middle of the book, to me, she read just like a lot of other almost tough heroines, that begin to angst and worry, and to obsess about a man. I liked the ending, but by the end, my feelings about the book went from "WOW!" to "blah", and then to "Well, okay - nice fight towards the end there". One of the best character was that little mutant creature she ended up taking care of for a while.

So the beginning - 5 stars, middle, 2 stars, and last part of book 3 stars... let's see now 10 divided by 3 + 3.333333333, so 3 stars it is.

I normally love Karent Chance's writings, but I guess I had bigger expectations for this book. The narrative was fine, the dialog okay, if a little dramatic at times, but over all the book was entertaining.
