it was amazing
bookshelves: young-adult-lit-30, first-10-for-ya-lit-class

Great young adult story in the new realism genre. It begins with a family (mother, father and Chris, 13 year old son) grieving the loss of a little girl, Molly. Each blames the others and himself for her disappearance and apparent drowning and are just beginning the painful process of external and internal forgiveness. One night Chris wakes up disturbed by things he saw in the tape of their last day with Molly and discovers clues that lead him to believe she may still be alive. He and his best friend Pat embark on an adventure to find the truth and, hopefully to bring Molly home. Chris and Pat's friendship became one of my favorite aspects of the story. Pat is really, in my mind, the hero of the story as he keeps Chris determined when he loses hope.
