This little girl was wise beyond her years. I kept having to remind myself that she was 12 when she first began writing in her diary and 14 when she was taken to the concentration camp. It broke my heart throughout the book to hear her secret thoughts, wishes and dreams, when I already knew that she had no future and would never, again not be held captive. She wrote that she wanted to live even after her death, and that she has.
