Sadly enough, someone who read this book told me that only the first in the series was worth reading and I believed them for awhile. Fortunately, I decided to pick up other books in the series and throw caution to the wind. Good call. Very good call.

This book picks up with Dexter continuing to hide his activities as a serial killer under the guise of normalcy. This time, Sergeant Doakes is watching him closely. Along with being watched, Dexter finds himself aiding an investigation into a new killer on the block.

I must say that Lindsay really honed his writing skills at some point between the first and second novel. He went from a guy writing down some decent ideas to a guy telling a good story. The images Lindsay managed to put in my mind while reading this were both horrible and impressive. I am now a fan.
