Gotta admit, any book that includes an organization chart or a family tree at the beginning is usually a big turnoff for me b/c it means its probably going to read like War and Peace and keeping track of characters will be near impossible. But I am really glad I stuck with b/c it is probably the best war book I have ever read. Battle scenes are descriptive and easy to imagine, you are "inside the head" of several different characters, and I felt certain I'd be bawling my eyes out at the end. That is the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars. The ending was somewhat disappointing. I know there is a deep morale message there but I was disappointed it ended abruptly.

Might be hard to understand for anyone who has not been in the military or is familiar with the acronyms/jargon but they do have a dictionary in the back which was definitely helpful.
