The art feels right, but the writing is a bit heavy handed. There is quite a bit of telling rather than showing. This volume shows us portions of the Roland's Dark Tower journey that were not written in detail in Stephen King's books. I want to know about the events in this chapter, but after reading the volume realize that King gave his reader's a gift by leaving several spaces for them to fill in. This section feels a little like knowing too much. The other problem is that Roland is the central character, but for most of these issues, he is far from the action. We learn how Roland and his world was damaged, but we miss Roland, the damaged heart of the story.
