This is a difficult book which follows the adventures of a young Indian boy.

Much of the book takes the perspective of the boy (or at least that was my impression) and consequently it can be a bit jumpy and garbled at times so difficult to follow.

That said the writing is beautiful and the descriptions of India and the eccentric characters he meets on his travels are some of the best I've ever read.

If you like Graham Green or Somerset Maughn I think you'll like this.
