Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner
This book was a tough one to rate. The writing style was great and it seemed to pull me into the settling of the West which I really enjoyed. I struggled with the main character (the writers mother) and could never really relate to her. The lessons learned by the characters are tough ones and it makes life harsh and unforgiving because of their stubbornness.
