it was amazing

I keep meaning to write a really insightful review of this book, but honestly I think it is easier for me to articulate what I don't like about a book than what I do like. So I struggle. Written in first person over 7 nights in the form of letters to the Chinese Prime Minister. The narrator is completely sketchy, but also somewhat sympathetic. His voice and the structure of the book is completely unique and is the perfect definition of the bed mates that are hope and horror. Right and wrong seem clear, but there is a lot of gray. I was both horrified and amused by this unique voice, often on the same page.

Mary So glad that you liked it! Bill read it too. As you probably know it won the Man Booker but the New York Times review was not all glowing.
