I've read almost all of the entries in this anthology so I am declaring it read! I would like to revisit this book again to finish the unread pieces.
This book is excellent. A definite must read for anyone who works in or supports the nonprofit industrial complex, and especially those who see nonprofits as a solution to the destruction caused by global capitalism (a viewpoint that the book dismantles!).
The book includes a real diversity of voices on this topic and examines it from different angles - a historical analysis of how the NPIC emerged, a more theoretical perspective on the political economy of the NPIC, examples of work within and outside of the NPIC, strategies for moving forward, etc.
One of my favorite pieces is "we were never meant to survive": Fighting Violence Against Women and the Fourth World War" by Ana Clarissa Rojas Durazo. What would the world look like if issues currently addressed by social services funded and delimited by the...more
