The main character, Precious Jones is pregant with her second child by her farther and her first child lives with her grandma. She lives with her abusive mother who does not view her as a daughter but a slave. She happens to like school but she just can't write/spell and read. But that all changes until she meets a teacher, Miss Rain.
Miss Rain encourages Precious to write and spell, she made a big impact in Precious's life because she persuades her not to give up and to make best out of her life. In her journey she goes through obstacles and trying to find a way for herself and her babies to have happiness.

This book made me relize I should be grateful for the things I have, and that no matter how tough things come at you, its better not to give up. This book made me cry because of what the protagonist have been through. I reccomend this book for people who wants a heart whelming story.
