Readers who like adapted fairy tales will like this sleeping beauty story. When Jack, a bored and somewhat whiny slacker accidentally wanders into a sleeping Euphrasia and kisses the beautiful sleeping Talia, a spoiled and somewhat whiny princess, he wakes an entire kingdom that fell asleep 300 years ago. While they slept, the rest of the world moved on around them, unaware of their existence, and now, much to the king's dismay, it may not be so simple to resume life as it was. Overcome with guilt - or fear of her father's anger, Talia runs away to Miami with Jack, but the witch Malvolia, who cursed Talia in the first place is still a threat, because Talia was not actually awakened by "love's first kiss," since she and Jack are not in love. Enjoyable, with moments of humor, and some interesting ideas to think about.
